I scrap at 75 and its the best job for retired people .its better money then watching tv or paint drying.i made over 4thousand last summer after the snow was gone in mn. I completely scrap out everything .totaly clean metals etc. And seperate .i probably make 10cents an hr.but i have fun picking and scrapping.its not always about money if it makes you happy.

Thank you, Curtis, for your comment, having a steady income makes scrapping that much better, as we are not having to do it for an income, but as extra income, and something to do to keep our hands and minds busy. all scrap will sell whether it is a whole item or clean to the bone, we should do all we can to enjoy our retirement years after having to work for a living for a lifetime, you take care and enjoy your time

Like playing a first person view okie scrapper special edition video game. Tools of choice are ball peen, punch and impact drill😎. I scrap the mowers even gut the engine for the aluminum. Lots of work but fun if you have the tools, and a bit of experience. Never a dull moment for a scrapper😊 Great video🫵😎

some I try to get them running. but some I just scrap out. not sure if you have seen my melting pot. I take the aluminum motor and melt it down with a waste oil burner and make ingots. and sell them on eBay, I plan to melt some aluminum soon
@alanscott8067 Жыл бұрын
@@Okiescrapper You showed the aluminum pot in the video. Very cool. Making ingots is pretty sophisticated repurposing scrapping. I part time scrap. Definitely lots to learn. Especially how much to process for value vs your time. Not all scrap yards are the same that’s for sure. What does an aluminum ingot go for🤔

@Okiescrapper4 жыл бұрын
yeah not much there and with the price on aluminum not hardly worth it, but cast does add up the weight more then other aluminum, I know the barrel is a lot heaver then the extruded and sheet,

Interesting video Allen. I used to drop the engines whole and get dirty aluminum. Plus the little bit of shred from the deck and handle. Some of the earlier mowers (Lawn Boy for example) had aluminum decks.

not sure what is causing my hard breathing, they listen to my lungs and tell me it sounds good. they took x-rays and tell me it looks good went to the hospital for a breathing test and it came back good. then they check my heart. did an ultrasound, and a stress test, and an other x ray type thing. and all they told me on that one was the main artery exiting the heart is about 4 cm too big. they did say if I loose some weight I may not breath so hard

A question how do you get the piece of steel out of the flywheel so you have a nice piece of cast aluminum?
@Okiescrapper Жыл бұрын
I never have gotten one out of a Briggs motor. but you may be able to cut it out. I need to see if my plasma cutter can cut it out, now a Tecumseh motor you can take a punch and hammer and knock out the pins that hold the magnet and counterweight in, the aluminum on the back is thin

$5.00 in scrap value plus over $80.00 in add revenue from the video, yeah I think that I made the right decision, no telling how much money I would have had to put into that mower to get it running

Why bother making ingots??? Just scrap them. Yards here don't like ingots.
@Okiescrapper Жыл бұрын
yeah, the yards don't like ingots but the sand casters on eBay sure do. I sell a 10 lb. lot for $39.95 with free shipping, after shipping cost and eBay fees I make just over $26.00 so that is $2.60 a lb. and what does aluminum breakage pay? about 10 - 15 cents a lb.
