I just discovered the holy grail of scrap .A scrap yard 20 minutes from my house went out of business during covid . .They hauled of 90 percent of it but took a dozer and covered a large percentage of it with a dozer .Just walk around and pick up .money .I had a truck full , bed level . All clean no steel cast aluminum loaded like gravel . .Wire looms and copper sticking out of the ground ..I just hauled home a transformer "aluminum "so heavy i could only roll it over . Pieces of stainless steel 50 pound pieces .if not ran over by a dozer would be worth a lot . Damn there is a lot there and been working it over for over 3 months ," truck load 1-2 times a month " and haven't touched half of it

Met a gardener a while back that uses a concrete mixer to make compost. Makes turning over easy.

a woman down the road from me had a aquatic plant greenhouse and she would use a cement mixer to mix her soil for potting plants

I very much enjoy watching/learning from your videos. I never have "scrapped" but do have access to old equipment here and there and think id enjoy it. Id love a tutorial on deciphering different metals. I can tell copper and aluminum for the most part but is there tin, brass or other metals worth scrapping and to find out what these metals are visually, by a magnet or ? would be really interesting. Have a great day! And again...great videos 🙂.

i like your channel, i have learned a lot thank you. another question please. i have a lot of vintage chromed car parts, i think they are zinc, but they are chrome plated. any problem melting with the chrome? thank you for your quick responses.
@Okiescrapper Жыл бұрын
I am not sure about melting chrome, may have to google that one, I use copper sulfate to test for zinc, get some zep root killer at home depot, it is copper sulfate, take one tsp. per spray bottle, grind the aluminum if it turns dark it is zinc, if no reaction it it cast aluminum. Thanks for the sub

Do you know of any scrap yards that pay more than shred for brake rotor’s?
@Okiescrapper2 жыл бұрын
brake rotors should go for short iron price, unless they have a category for them, but should still pay more then shred, I would call around, they may have a minimum weight

Have you ever thought of stripping it from the bottom up? Cut the four corners of the sides from the bottom up and work with it that way question mark
@Okiescrapper5 ай бұрын
haven't thought about doing it that way, it may work well.
