What an absolutely fantastic set with such surprising and amazing reinterpretations of OR's own classics. And only now getting some insight into the "Away" album because it isn't available on iTunes/ Spotify where I'm at. Tks so much for uploading this. Every OR live set is such a unique experience. I count myself lucky to have had been able to watch them perform live a decade ago when I was living abroad, but doubt I'd ever get to watch them again where I'm at, so I'm deeply grateful for this.

I absolutely love them, they can make anything work, from the stand ins, the silver gymnasium, away, the stage names, every album has a slight change in sound, but I found okkervil river about a year ago, and I am still to this day finding new (to me) songs that I just completely fall in love with..

I discovered the album 'Away' in 2020 and the songs Okkervil River RIP and Call Yourself Renee got me through the first lockdown. So much beauty in the music and endless texture to the lyrics. Just incredible. This performance is excellent.

While everyone will always have favorite albums and favorite albums, Will's entire catalog.especially starting with Black Sheep Boy to Away shows unbelievable growth in ambitious song writing, arrangements, and continual growth in his confidence as a vocalist. Yes, Away seems like such a departure and is a whole new band, but the reworking of older material, particularly "For Real" are breathtaking and genius. Black Sheep Boy will always be my favorite, such a perfect concept record rife with multilayered story telling and raw emotion, Away is a close second for me for it's leap in adventurous arrangements, raw biographical honesty and absolute beauty. I love the reference back to older lyrics, particularly the idea of stealing pills from the king's medicine chest in Okervil River R.I.P., takes me right back to "A Stone." Maybe it should have been a Will Sheff solo album, but really, why? Its a turning point, a statement about changing, ageing and growing, The shit we go through as we get older. You may want every band to stay who they were when you first heard them, but as a full time musician myself, I can not stress how unfair that is to the artist and suggests you're looking for a commodity and not art. And as a matter of opinion, this new line up is full of fantastic musicians, the drummer alone is truly our of this world good and totally pro.If you don't dig Away, don't listen to it, don't watch the plethora of new performance videos. But be sure to listen to what comes next, you have no idea where Will is going to go next, he is truly a gifted lyricist and a fantastic conceptual artists.

Jonathan Allen Yo I've been an obsessive fan since the second record. Black Sheep Boy is definitely the high water mark, but The Silver Gynamsiun comes close. It's been wild watching this dude for the last 15 years.

You could maybe contact the venue directly and be allowed to go (probably with your parent(s)). Go ahead and try. I saw a similar comment and response under another live performance video where the one who replied said it could be done if chance allows. You dont have to miss out because of your age. Young people like you are few and far between.

I have, and she is the purest and sweetest fucking soul my worthless ass has ever had the priviledge of knowing, loving, and being loved by. We went together to see them live when they came to Atlanta for their Away tour. I'll remember these and many other memories until the day I die...
