@@Tom-n1u I would ask you to define program defining before you hurl insults. If program defining means, “best win of the season.” Its program defining. If program defining means, “best win under current staff.” I would argue that Texas game last year was a bigger win. But this is certainly up there. If you mean, “this win could be the blue print for who we can and will be moving forward.” Then I would say that it was program defining. If program defining means, “this win is a top 5 all time win the history of the school” then it is not. I will say that if Oklahoma goes onto a stretch of growth and wins conference and national titles in the next 3 years, this win easily could be one of the catalysts that led to it. Oklahoma has 7 national titles. They have racked up ranked wins vs big names over the years. In 2017, they went to Ohio State and beat them. I’m not down playing the win. Maybe I have a misunderstanding of program defining. I was thrilled watching it and I think it will be one of those special moments for the next generation of fans. I will be rewatching it in the future I am positive! But I was interpreting it to mean this is the pinnacle they have reached.

Kip flowed with the play after snap started when lining up as a LB sneaking into the path of the ball when he shifted left into the flats. Last one Milroe got hit because of our D and the ball flew up in the air to get caught by Washington. They were not gifted, they were well executed plays. I am pretty sure Bama's DL has a handful of NFL caliber guys and our OL got to the 2nd level all night. Our edges ate up their tackles on D. They’re not going to lose by 20 to Auburn. I think OU is just a very good roster that finally found an identity. This is more of an OU win than Bama loss. Also this isn’t a Saban Alabama anymore because that only comes one time in a lifetime

This game proved OUs defense was ready for the SEC. This offense has been the problem. The SEC is in trouble when OU gets anywhere near good because if the offense showed up they could’ve beat Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Missouri. Watch what happens when OU gets out of a down year for talent that is banged up with half their oline room missing and their top 6 WRs out.

I don’t understand the mindset of “this the best team you’ll ever have.” I would agree with you if this was 2010 the portal and NIL was not as relevant. Several player left to the draft and many transfer. DeBoer will definitely be recruiting to what he needs are, not to what Saban had.

Some Alabama fans are out there saying that "Oh, Nick Saban went 6-7 his first year at Alabama". This is not the same... Nick Saban came in with a mediocre team his first year. Deboer was given the reigns of a Championship caliber team, and crapped the bed with it. Deboer's biggest issue is, he is used to only having talented players and developing talent individually. In the SEC, you have to be elite in halftime adjustments as well. You can't rely on your standard playbook and player talent to win games. They have the talent on that team that could absolutely win the National Championship. But the problem is they lack the coaching talent. They think they can win without changing looks on offense and defense. This is why we say the SEC is just DIFFERENT... I knew he would struggle this first year, and not for lack of talent. Deboer needs 2 to 3 years in the program to start to be elite. Halftime adjustments is a brand new thing he has to learn.

You say when that team has those dominant intangibles that doesn't happen, OU doesn't do that to a good Alabama team with that killer instinct. I remember an Alabama team that was so dominant throughout the season people were calling it maybe the best Alabama team ever, stacked with NFL talent Derrick Henry against college kids can you imagine?. Then Auburn ran the field goal back to stop them from going to the title game and people said they should still get to play for a title because they are so good and that game ended that way Then a well coached speedy defense and high powered fast paces offense came to town to face them in a bowl game. OU wrecked that team too but that would never happen, OU would never beat a good Saban team like that. Sometimes you just get out coached and out played and have no heart and quit in the 3rd quarter and get stomped.

What most people forget or don’t understand is. Oklahoma expects to win every game they play regardless of who the opponent it is. Oklahoma has had multiple dynasties. So they take a back seat to no one.

ALA has a 3-way tie with SC with two different teams - VAN & OKLA. They are not showing that they are moving up at the end of the season where as SC is. However, we still have to see how SC performs against CLEM, but if it wins that comfortably then I believe SC should be the one to go to CFP and not ALA, even if ALA beats AUB in the iron bowl!
@rogerwilcoshirley22703 күн бұрын
The intangible may be the O-line - if you want a great running game as base for everything else you need an O-line that can move the d-line out and still have the speed and energy to execute deeper secondary blocks to create vertical and diagonal running lanes with just the right timing. That is technically very difficult , requires more strength and endurance than more passive pass blocking where energy is given to you by the rushing D-line. Then there is the issue of being able to rapidly transition from forward power running blocks to backward pass protection blocking.

I made a comment before the start of the season that De Boer's successes have been with teams where he had his predecessor's recruited players, and that he changed teams at the point his own recruitments would start becoming a factor. At Bama he's coaching a team stacked with players who Saban recruited. With 3 losses already I predict he's out before the end of year three.

@37gdog4 күн бұрын
Two years ago when Milroe took the field I said Alabama would never play for a national championship with a glorified running back pretending to be a QB. Run first mentality QB's rarely win championships, never do they at Alabama. Nick Saban could coach away some of Milroe's in game mistakes and bail him out, but with no Saban, there was never any chance. I was called every name in the book, I was 100% correct. He is a terrible QB, he couldn't throw a football in the ocean and hit water. Pair Milroe with a defense with no ability to make adjustments and you lose. To make things worse, if Milroe is coming back as the starting QB, Ryan Williams will be at Texas next year. Alabama will now sink into SEC mediocracy, the ride is officially over.

I agree with your take on Kalen Deboer's situation. I am on board with keeping Deboer for another 2 or 3 seasons. Give the man some time to learn and get familiar with the SEC. Let him establish his culture. I don't know if DeBoer will succeed, but he has a good winning record at his previous coaching jobs. I agree he had some bad out of left field turns in the off season with hiring some assistant coaches and they decided to back out. DeBoer had to scramble to fill in the OC and DC positions and probably didn't get the best people. He had to take what he could get. DeBoer may ought to make some personnel changes in the off season. He needs a better OC and DC.

Josh I appreciate you, i love your content… but offensive coordinating and play calling of this was a joke. Oklahoma decided ahead of time to spy and prevent the Qb run. There was no plan B, there was no pivoting, there was no decision to adjust. They tried something that’s don’t work from the get go, and continued to try it the whole game long. Milroe is not the guy. But this was a humiliation to a level that has to make people who have followed Bama for years question what on earth was this…… Kalen is responsible for who picks plays on offense, Kalen is responsible for how players execute, Kalen is responsible for every single performance that shows up week in and week out. Stop making weird hot take excuses.
