I have been wanting to sew for me with my own pattern too. I know how to sew a bit and for stretchy fabric I use a serger but if you don't you can use a regular sewing machine and use the zig zag stitch. You did great for sewing with hand and the dress is lovely.

Nice dresses. My mother was a seamstress too. She was often sat at that big Singer sewing machine making all our clothes.She tried to teach me to sew when I was young but I wasn’t interested. I really wished I had payed attention to her.

you need a stretch 75 machine needle and play around with your tension on the machine.
