This is an outstanding vocal. Musical theatre students would do well to study how Izhar moves and sings so effortlessly at the same time. His technique is excellent and he finishes off each phrase of the song properly. The song is uplifting too, though you would always know it is an Israeli entry because there is a predictable choreography and staging around the 1980s and 1990s. Best song of this year easily and what a performer Izhar is.

And thank god it did. Many years later that girl married a Billionaire and was on the first season of the Israeli Real Housewives, where she admitted that the screeching "singing" in the first chorus was her, so her mic dislodging saved the rest of the song. She claims the dancers' mics were supposed to be on very low volume and barely noticeable, but hers was on too loud by mistake, which needlessly amplified her questionable vocals. She's still friends with Izhar Cohen and said she feels a bit guilty for costing Israel points and perhaps another win. Notice how she managed to discretely tuck it in her cleavage on 2:50?

Best decade of Eurovision the 80s. It was when ESC still was Eurovision Song Contest. Now ESC should stand for Eurovision Best In Show Contest. ESC totally got out of hand after Jon Ola Sand took over. Now its all about lights and preformance, not about the song.

I personally feel like Eurovision made very big steps back into the right direction after the 2000s. They were what you described, all about bigger, more pyro and forgetable songs (doesnt mean there werent good songs). But over the 2010s Eurovision slowly became more... serious again. Especially with winnings songs like 1944, Amar pelos dois and Arcade. I think there hasn't been a year in the History of Eurovision that didn't have a good song. There will always be the over-the-top acts. As well as the not-so-serious acts. But they have been there for many many years. Look at Switzerland 1979 - kind of the first funny entry, espcially if you understand the lyrics. Or the Netherlands 1974 - also not one of the most serious perfomances.

This was my favorite ESC entry (i was born in 84, but my parents taped it and i used to watch it after kindergarden and after school for longer than i should admit) as a child. I think the sound technicians managed to hear it and mute her mic after the first chorus, which I've always found kind kind fun.

Then I finally met him in 2019 when Israel hosted the Eurovision Song Contest when Metta won the year before . We became very good friends . I’ve been back to Israel many times . Never thought in my wildest dreams this would happen . It’s a great country. I’ll be visiting again this year . He is a great guy and well respected in Israel .
