Korn has always been my favorite Nu Metal band.....the reason I got a seven string, along with steve vai
@LeadMe2TheBliss2 жыл бұрын
They created the genre, but to be fair IDK if I'd call them "nu metal" I believe they helped create that genre alongside bands like R.A.T.M, Faith No More, and Pantera. Nu metal was more of a response to bands like Korn though, Korn came out years before nu metal was even a discovered genre...I would call Korn an alternative/metal band, f*ck genres though it's all about the music!!

Musicians interviewing musicians makes for WAY better interviews than random "reporters" or "journalists" or whatever. At least for me. I'd much rather hear about guitars and effects and such than almost anything else.
@SokolRock2 жыл бұрын
I agree. I always like it better when the interviewer is a musician himself, but not only because of questions about equipment, but also because their questions are always more interesting: They usually avoid stupid questions that musicians are asked thousands of times and are more interested in musicians as ordinary people, rather than as "celebrities". As a result, the conversation turns out to be more friendly and honest.

I saw Korn with Megadeth back in 94. They came out and were so different from everything happening, it was refreshing. That first album is untouchable (no pun intended). They are the godfathers of their genre and they helped keep heavy music afloat during the 90's, among a few others.
@majesticpbjcat77072 жыл бұрын
I also saw them on that tour. They opened for Megadeth and I believe Fear Factory and Flotsam and Jetsam were on that bill as well? Anyways, I remember them coming out in their red Adidas suits and jumping up and down in time and I was like "what in the hell is this?!" A year later I was all in and the new metal era was starting to hit full swing. Crazy times followed 🤣🤘
@Cbuzz13992 жыл бұрын
@@majesticpbjcat7707 Thats exactly right!! I saw them on that tour as well. Went for Megadeth, came back a Korn fan. I didnt really know what to make of them at the time but when they played "Blind" it caught my attention.
@itsalwayssomething74902 жыл бұрын
@@majesticpbjcat7707 agreed. Me and my buddy stood in the pit for a while, then went up to the balcony. It was the Port Chester show. We rolled a blunt, smoked it while Korn was coming on. We initially thought they were black guys. We only seen Adidas and dreads. And it was so off kilter, the music, the look. Blind started to build up and our ears perked up, and it came in... the head banging with the 4 of them up front is something I felt in my soul. It wasn't even head banging, it was the whole body banging, and it was from the depths of hell. They reached way down to feel that groove. And it was all believable. It didn't feel like a gimmick, it felt like a style. They were bringing forth something unique and I was there to witness its birth. I was a thrash fan who reluctantly accepted grunge years before, but Korn was instantaneous. I'll admit, they fell off for me when Head left, and although I like their newer stuff, nothing beats when the cherry was popped. The first few albums were part of my existence.
