AMCAR Norway responds to GM and Will Ferrell
With General Motors’ humorous “attack” on Norway’s electric vehicle dominance as a backdrop. AMCAR Norway have produced a sequel which centers on the car enthusiast Olaf’s struggles as owner of GM’s first mass produced EV; the Chevrolet Bolt. GM vehicles have declined from a leading market position in Norway to having no official representation today. GM also has a history of failed sales offensives in Europe. In AMCAR’s opinion this has been largely due to a lack in the products offered and poor sales and marketing efforts.
AMCAR Norway represents more than 40.000 car enthusiasts in Norway. On the behalf of our patrons we encourage GM to bring us real EVs that will appeal to enthusiasts with inspiring designs, impressive performance, range and reliability. GM is still a world leader in vehicle technology. AMCAR is confident that with the right products and sales strategy, GM once again can become a market leader in Norway and Europe.

I dont think the chevy add was actually about hating Norway. It was kinda complimenting them and the GM saying that they want to replicate that in America. (Of course they dilevered that in a humorous way with Will Ferrell going overboard about "crushing Norway" and all that) I liked the ad personally.

yeah as a norwegian I totally understand the ad and got that he was joking, but as you can see many norwegians took it the wrong way which is dumb

It’s challenging the United States to beat Norway in EVs sales. Not hate them directly. It’s definitely a challenge because to get a country of 350+ Million to have over 50% or more of new car sales to be electric requires more cares than it took to get Norway there. Also Norway has been incentivizing that for years now.

Olaf (Olav) is one of the oldest, most used Norwegian viking names. All the other names from Frozen are old norwegian/scandinavian names as well.

@@psykodactyle Lol! In the early 1900s more than 10% of all Norwegian girls were named Elsa. Literally every Norwegian I know has a great grandmother who’s name was Elsa or Else (I have two). Today they usually get the more modern version of the name, Else.
