The number 3 is amazing! My hair dresser has always said to leave it over night if you can and when I do, my god it’s amazingly soft 🥰🤪
@lauriehammell3642
@lauriehammell3642 3 жыл бұрын
Leaving it on longer than recommended doesn't do anything extra. With that said it also doesn't hurt but hear me out. Example: Once water reaches 100’C and is boiling you can’t turn the temperature up to boil it more. Once it's boiling the job is complete. It's the same with hair care. Leaving a treatment on longer once your hair has absorbed its capacity won't do anything because it can’t retain any more moisture after it's hit its capacity.
@FRIENDLYROZI
@FRIENDLYROZI 3 жыл бұрын
@@lauriehammell3642 But she said she did notice a difference, it enhanced the softness further. Maybe it was a placebo effect, not sure. One of the primarily function of this product is to rebuild disulfide bonds in the hair, maybe letting it stay on longer can help build those bonds more extensively since it has more times to react?
@baybieaimee
@baybieaimee 3 жыл бұрын
@@FRIENDLYROZILaurie is right. Olaplex later came out saying that you shouldn’t leave on longer than recommended time. Especially with treatment number 3. I’ve been one to leave stuff on longer than recommended thinking that it works better but after hearing olaplex come out with saying to just follow the directions I gotta say that you really should follow the directions and do your research 😊

Would just like to point out that you can't repair damaged hair, there's no reversing the damage done and that's a hard fact BUT you can strengthen the damage you have and thats how these products are supposed to help your hair. So you've damaged your hair (like i have, reallllll badly) but if you're like me and your hair is crackly and dry and stretchy when wet? Strengthening it can make some elasticity return to your hair and strengthen what you have to save it etc. But yeah, just wanted to say that! Thanks for this video I've been debating buying the whole set because I've ruined my hair and this video has helped x Its also good to learn what your hair needs so if your hair is really weak and stretchy then its lacking protein and the olaplex treatment (and probably the other steps) add some protein into your hair to start working on that elasticity and strengthening it. Too much protein can be bad though but if you're hair is totally lacking then its gonna be hard to give it a protein overload. Its all about balance.

this product does actually repair damage look at the website read the science
@mykindofreality2474
@mykindofreality2474 3 жыл бұрын
@@tati-games First of all I'd like to thank the maker of the video for highlighting my comment, made my day lol!. So, Tatiana to further explain for you, so like I said its impossible to repair and reverse damage - thats just a fact, any hair professional would say so (unless they're trying to sell you something ;) ). That doesn't mean I'm trying to say this product is bad, its not, its amazing, I bought it and its made a massive difference in my hair already and my hair was literally hanging on for dear life. What olaplex does is it, like other "repairing" products STRENGTHENS that damage which gives the appearance of your hair being repaired. It adds protein to the hair which usually is what damaged hair is lacking (if you've ever experienced "stretchy" or very weak hair that you can lightly pull and it will stretch and snap pretty much instantly) and that protein works towards strengthening that weakness, building up more elasticity and durability - it essentially protects your hair from becoming even worse than it already was and falling off on its own accord. Same as with other protein treatments and hot oil treatments etc, depending on what your hair needs and is asking you can help it look alot better and strengthen whatever condition your left with so it gives the appearance of being repaired because it looks better. So it doesn't repair - it strengthens, protects and essentially masks the damage that has already been done. Trust me, I worked my butt off talking to all sorts of professionals because I didn't want to have to cut off my screwed up hair and end up with a pixie cut. I had to cut off most of the length because no amount of strengthening would have been quick enough to save it from snapping off, so it's now just above my shoulders but there's still alot of ends where you can see the difference between regrowth and the damaged parts. Olaplex saved me from having to go bald tbh along with hot oil treatments to add moisture and nourish etc. A quicker explanation is that your hair is already dead, its just dead skin cells and there's nothing you can do about it to bring it to life because it grows out dead. All you can do is keep maintaining it, keep ontop of split ends and strengthen them to make sure they become more durable. If its stretchy and snapping, it needs protein. If its hard and brittle too much protein is a bad thing so you need moisture and nourishment. There's no repairing - only strengthening and maintaining. Any expert will tell you that. The whole "hair repair" thing came about because some products that work really well and give your hair what it needs to be stronger can make it look alot better than when you first destroyed it, like olaplex, so people thought because it looked better it meant that it was repaired when actually it wasn't. Hope this helped x
@mykindofreality2474
@mykindofreality2474 3 жыл бұрын
@@tati-games Also websites always use the terms repair etc because its marketing and some brands just know that repair sounds better than strengthen or it makes more sense to buyers. Just like when skin care brands say - dermatologist approved - it might not be and if they've lied there's no laws against it so it doesn't matter. Or when food items say "suitable for vegans" but actually there's powdered milk in it or something so it isn't. It's all marketing. Not saying the company behind olaplex are these pack of money making liars, I'm just saying they use word play to their advantage as every company does so alot of the time you need to take what they say with a pinch of salt and not take it so literally. Strengthening is what is happening, not repair - but strengthening is the best you're going to get so its still amazing and all you can ask for really. :)

@@mykindofreality2474 you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, educate yourself! Olaplex adds protein?? Olaplex is not a protein treatment, it's supposed to bring disulfide bonds of the hair back together and make the hair shafts healthier which is damaged from heat, bleach, hair dye, sunlight, brushing, etc. Hair is dead skin cells?? Really?? It's always uneducated people like you giving wrong information and misleading people. Thank you, for such informative detailed video. I was also brunette for decades. I am olive complexion and getting older. So decided to go blonde. It was a scary process. My hairdresser is amazing. She was able to lift the black off. My hair did seemed a bit dry. I’ve been using blue shampoo & conditioner. In addition to hair treatments prepared by her. I purchased the 0 3 and 7 . I will use it this weekend. I am excited to see my hair soft and shiny. Another thing I did I stop blow drying my hair. Yes, for at least a couple of months. I did notice very lil breakage from blower prior to bleach. So I air dry and then a nice bun. I have fine thin hair so I am giving this my all. I have a question I will retouch my hair in six months. Which of the Olaplex should my hairdresser add to bleach? Thank you

Hair stylist here. Just saying rinsing your hair off with cold water doesn't make a difference. Shampoo opens the cuticle and conditioner seals it so it doesn't matter what temperature the water is. Just some info so you don't have to have cold showers lol

Now that this has happened try not to go to the hair Salon for a while. Let your hair be! I hope this helps.

My hair has been put under a lot of strain with numerous lightening bleaching treatments. I started using olaplex a few months ago. Hair was very dry. I found the number 3 seemed to work magic at first, my hair felt like cashmere. Then I found had more breakage than ever! I was adding olaplex 1 to my bleach for roots and found it wasnt lifting enough so needed to do two rounds of bleaching and correcting gold banding. Absolute nightmare. Conditioner is fair, bond smoother doesnt really do much, prefer a coconut serum or keratin oil. I don't believe it's worth the hype or cost. I'd expect it to work miracles and it doesnt. I found the Bleach London reincarnation mask a couple of times a week or Aussie three minute miracle reconstruction treatment a couple of times a week a lot better and at a fraction of the cost! I've still had to have a good hair cut to remove all of the damage!

My hair colourist told me to apply No.3 first (on dirty damp hair) leave it on for 10-15 min or so and then shampoo and condition afterwards... The reason for this is because No.3 is not a conditioner and if you don't use shampoo afterwards you will have a film in your hair.
