I’m an Igbo girl that grew up in the south south of Nigeria. My first encounter with Chief Commander Ebenezer obey’s music, was when I was posted to Lagos for my Nysc back in 2017. My landlady would play his songs every morning, it was like I was hypnotized by his instruments, his voice and his type of sound. I don’t understand a single word he is saying but I feel he is always calling me to dance with his music 😂. Now I have a whole playlist of his music and I can’t explain the joy and sense of nostalgia I feel whenever I listen to this great man.

You are not alone, every Igbo person that hears Mr Obey music always love it, most especially the instrumental construction it is a slow food to the souls that if you can't dance you just relax and let it massage your soul. It is like listening to Chief Osita. this very track always brighten up me and my Landlord in those days in Lagos...

If I’m not mistaken this album was made between 1976 and 1978. Those were my childhood years. Obey’s music and its philosophical ethos were a great window through which I saw the world. Together with the Holy Scriptures and parental guidance, it has signposted what has come to define views, values and beliefs.
