I show you how this Old 1970's Vintage Mr. Coffee Maker still works and makes a great pot of coffee. I show you how they used to make coffee back in the past. Blast from the Past and it was so fun to buy this on Facebook Marketplace for $5 Dollars and clean it up and see if it still works. It was amazing that it still works. The coffee tasted Great but we have come a long way since the old coffee makers were used.

We had this old thing too back in the 70's! And the model before or after this one too with the two separate switches! The history of Mr. Coffee is interesting. These models heated the water in that chamber on top and a little hole would open up when the water got hot enough. Very quiet. The design changed to the method used today after a series of acquisitions. In fact, I found the filter basket for the other model the other day .. it had a "Coffee Saver" slider switch to select how many cups of coffee you were making - the lower the number it would squeeze in the filter to a smaller space. Similar to how the OXO Brew has the slider switch on their basket.

Wow thanks for sharing a great story!!! I love to hear about the Old coffee makers in the 70's when things started to change away from Percolator type.

Very neat! I have a Mr. Coffee MC-1AC from 1975 and it works pretty good. Of course, it's always very important to clean the machine all the way around and do a water test just to make sure there's no bacteria coming out of the nozzle, especially the water reservoir. You would have to do that before you make coffee on any vintage coffee maker. That's what I did with my Mr. Coffee maker.

I have this model. It was never opened and still in original box! I use it and with good clean cold water...right coffee grind, it makes great coffee! This unit has that 70's old school cool vintage look with wood grain decal, red and yellow lights on buttons. These brew coffee fast and hotter. This unit has steel warmer plate and water reservior so it is better for you than the plastic ones of today. This is a simple yet effective unit. Lots of fun using it. Tip, though...these do not have stop drip, so, you will want to leave pot under basket for a couple minutes until the last drips out, otherwise coffee will drip all over warmer and make a mess. And, smell like burnt coffee! Great video...thanks for sharing!

They are much better then the nonsense we have today . I purchased a like mint 1950’s percolator and it makes the best coffee. The only drawback is the cleaning processes of the basket inside.

@@JustADad well the percs tasted fine when done right. the real reason ppl started buying these drips was that work force was changing. Women were going to work in the morning by the millions. the house wife was a thing of the past. We bought this as to make fast good coffee while getting ready and slamming the kids out the door. I worked at the community Center in northern Chicago burbs. When we got our first it was 89$ at Wards, in Waukegan. I knew then that day, how much my husband truly loved me. ❤ m

This is a great coffee pot. This is before they went to the bubbler pump mechanism, and instead it uses a metal tray which the water goes through and a bimetallic strip which limits the water flow to get the right temperature.

Fun fact: This heats the water by passing electrical current directly through the water via two electrodes using the water as an electrolyte.
