Cried over this song in the 90s. Crying over it again tonight.

Awesome! This song has been my companion through much heartbreak and misery in the past 15 years... good times and bad... this band has saved my life on several occasions as well. Do yourself a favour and go see them on tour this winter.

This is probably the best fan-made video I've ever seen with the use of multiple stills. Pure genius,I say. I keep going back to watch it again. I actually met The Old 97's at Liberty Lunch while working there in the late 90's. They were playing SXSW with Whiskey town,Ryan Adam's band. I think they played SXSW there the very next year and the band hadn't quite won me over just yet-probably because I wasn't in the mood for Alt Country. By the time I saw them a 3rd time,I was sold on them! Rhett Miller and the bassist are very kind,I recall. Rhett is one of those unassuming guys that seems like a long lost friend from high school, and yet the ladies swoon over him like Beatlemania-"have you seen Rhett anywhere back there?", and "what's Rhett like?", one young lady asked me in a way that made me think of a girl askín for Paul McCartney. I love Rhett's daddy long leg dance he does while playin his guitar onstage-cracks me up. I have never seen anything like that Spaghetti-leg dance of hís!

Timebomb was timeless. Ahhhh, to be young and running aound in Deep Elem in the early 90's. Old 97's, Ten Hands and Fever in the Funkhouse.

Lovely composition. True sad story: I was in Boston and all wrapped up by the singer of the opening band as we listened to Rhett and swayed and kissed up a bunch. After I'd accidentally stuck my hand into a wet ashtray. Romance, what? Old 97's, Deathray Davies.

Don't even give women a chance. Be cruel b4 they get a foothold. They will ruin you. They will give you something that you finally care about and then take it away. I just wanted to be with my kids all the time.

Salome, uncross your heart I know what goes on inside, it's over before it starts Stay all night, yeah I'll wait right here The full moon might work magic, girl but I won't disappear And I'm tired of makin' friends and I'm tired of makin' time And I'm sick to death of love and I'm sick to death of tryin' And it's easier for you, oh it's easier for you And it's easier for you, it's easier for you Salome, untie my hands Well I'll find another lady and you'll wreck another man It's over now, yeah and so are we My blood's turned to dirt, girl you broke every part of me And I'm tired of makin' friends and I'm tired of makin' time And I'm sick to death of love and I'm sick to death of tryin' And it's easier for you, oh it's easier for you And it's easier for you, oh it's easier And I'm tired of makin' friends and I'm tired of makin' time And I'm sick to death of love and I'm sick to death of tryin' And it's easier for you, yeah it's easier for you And it's easier for you, oh it's easier for you And it's easier for you, oh it's easier for you, oh

sometimes the man is whining and sometimes the woman is whining.... That's how love works. A VERY beautiful song no matter how you look at it. Using the name Salome is great too, if you remember she is the daughter of Herodias and she is the one who asked for the head of John the Baptist
