Hey guys? i wanna ask ya something. If you guys need voice actors then can I voice act with you guys? I've never actually done it before but I'm willing to try. Though if you're booked or it'll be too hard for a new person to join the crew at a time like this then it's perfectly fine. I really just wanna know how you guys voice act so I can know how to do it in the future of my own youtube channel. I really love your work and your voice acting is amazing! I just want to be almost as good as you guys.

Thanks for the interest! It's only Kimlinh and myself voicing all of these and we've been able to handle it just fine so far so I'm not looking for anyone else. And if I was then I have a ton of fellow voice actors that I can ask anyway. However, I would be able to give advice on how to start learning the craft of acting. Kimlinh and I are both professional voice actors who do work in video games, animation, and anime (her more than me, but I'm gunning to get more work soon). We both started doing this for free in fan projects on the internet years ago for fun and eventually started making money at it as we got better and made connections in the industry. The number one thing I can suggest if you have any interst in voice acting is to go out and act. Take classes at your school, sign up for improv classes, audition for a school play or musical, or you can do what i did and join a voice acting forum and start auditioning for fan projects. I would NOT recommend doing what I did since I started this with no acting background (I didn't start taking classes until a couple of years ago), but it's certainly an option. My point is that voice acting is 1% voice and 99% acting. If you wanna be a good, successful voice actor then you have to be a good actor. So start now and learn and grow as much as you can as an actor before you're at the point where you want to start doing this professionally. Even if that means just buying a USB mic and making stuff on KZbin with your friends. As long as you're having fun and learning as you go then it's a valuable starting experience! The important thing is that you're acting. The more you do it and the more you learn, the better you will be. If you want some resources then I can definitely point you to a few. - Dee Bradley Baker has a website called "I Want to be a Voice Actor" and it's an amazing rundown on what it takes to enter the industry along with tips for beginners just starting out like you. - Steve Blum just started a webinar series where he teaches informal classes in video form at Blumvox Studios. - Rob Paulsen runs a podcast called Talkin' Toons where he shares stories and tips with fellow working voice actors. - Crispin Freeman also runs a podcast called Voice Acting Mastery which is more of a solo educational podcast and is a great resource. - James Arnold Taylor's KZbin channel has a BUNCH of great videos about voice acting and life tips in general. - John DiMaggio created a wonderful documentary called "I Know That Voice" all about voice over. I think you can buy it on KZbin, but it's also available on Amazon, Hulu, and a few other services. - My friend and fellow voice actor Natalie Van Sistine runs a great blog about voice acting and has a "crash course" KZbin series about voice over and other technical aspects (she's also an audio nut like me). - Finally, Kimlinh Tran (as in my partner in crime for the dubs here) often posts recordings of her sessions to her KZbin channel. She hasn't done one for our Undertale sessions, but she often will record audition sessions or a game session she had to do at home and post it for people to watch. You can often learn a lot just by watchign someone work. I hope this has helped inspire you a bit and gievn you some stuff to check out! Best of luck.

Thank you so much for telling me! I did take a Drama course earlier in the school year until i had to switch to and art course recently. Though I did practice a lot of improv and making characters with their backgrounds. I also made a one act play with my own characters and story. Point being, I practiced drama a lot and enjoyed it. I just wanted to see if there was any way I could practice voice acting and making the video itself. Again, thank you for letting me know about this! I really appreciate it!!

Sounds like you're off to a good start, then! Keep at it. As for making videos, I would suggest looking into Adobe's subscription for their editing suite. For recording and audio editing I use Adobe Audition and I also use Adobe Premiere for video editing (though I don't edit the videos on this channel. You'd have to ask David what he uses). It's a fairly cheap subscription for students and you get access to everything Adobe makes. You can look up tutorials online about how to edit with those programs. However, if you can't afford the sub (or your parents can't) then there are free options even if they aren't as good. Audacity is a pretty good free audio editing software and I know there are some free video editing programs, but I don't know how good they are personally since I've only ever used Premiere. As for practicing your acting, you can do that in any way you want! Cold reading a novel out loud is good for practing narration and creating characters on the fly. This can also apply to reading out the dialogue in a video game. I came up with the voices and character personalities I use in these dubs while I played Undertale the first time, for example. You can also look into vocal warm ups and exercises to train your voice (warm ups before a session are important to make sure you don't hurt yourself). Plus, singing does help strengthen your voice so if you enjoy singing or take vocal classes then even better. Also, just be observant in your daily life. Listen to the people around you, on TV, in your video games, at the movies, and take note of how they talk and emote. Often times, a new character voice starts as an impression of some guy you heard on the street. Acting is about portraying believable emotions so studying real people (and good actors in the media you consume) is essential.
