In 2023 I rode from St. Louis to Anchorage. Wanted to do the Dempster but the fires closed two of the roads. While in Anchorage it was three days of rain, I never got out of the rain gear. Could not wait to ride out of there to get away from the rain and into some sunshine. It truly does change your perspective. Thanks for all your work in creating these videos. Blessings, Clint

I loved your documentary Craig. I'm 75 and have ridden to AK twice back in the early eighties with my wife on our BMW R75/6s. I'm planning my next trip to AK for next year and your video of a solo ride was irresistable and very informative. My main concern was the condition of the roads as back then it was 1K miles of gravel/road construction and trying to say the least. On one day through construction and the calcium dust control trucks we covered 125 miles in ten hours! Aside from that the ride was almost effortless. This trip I'll be riding a BMW K1300 GT, a 640 lb,., hp monster that has taken me 10s of thousands of miles all over western U.S. and Canada. I'm eager and confident that me and the bike will make this a memorable trip thanks in part to your recounting your experiences. Thank you for the encouragement. Hope to see you on the road, stay safe and healthy. Hang the costs, you can't take it with you.

Cheers to the dude heading to Tuk. I have failed twice: 1) The NWT was closed during COVID, 2) Late spring, high rivers, ferries not running.

A friend, who rides, stopped by the house today, so I handed him my phone and shared this video. When he was finished watching, he handed me back the phone and said " he created a SELFIE video" and handed me back the phone. Enjoyed the video and RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!

Such vast distances (I’m from the U.K.) but that rain oh boy, even I think that’s more than your fair share lol. Absolute respect to you it can definitely sap your spirit if you let it, sunshine and blue skies make a world difference! Keep on riding 💪👍🇬🇧🇺🇸

Randomly found you on KZbin. As a fellow solo traveler an a Tiger I have absolutely loved the Alaska series! You really nail the essence of touring that I love. If you’re ever passing through the Indianapolis, Indiana area let’s go out for a ride!

I really like your videos. You are really unlucky with the weather. I made the motorcycle trip from Quebec to Alaska and did the Dalton Highway and the Dempster in 2022 for a duration of 22 days. I had 1 day of rain and 2 periods of about 4 hours during my trip. I was really lucky. You have a spirit of steel. Good continuation of the trip and I wish you good weather for the rest of the trip

The awful weather and bugs is what would keep me from ever riding to Alaska. There's way too much beauty to be seen in the lower 48. Thanks for the videos.

After watching all these video days of rain and cold, generally crappy weather, I think if I ever did a run to Alaska, I would just park my butt at the Liard Springs! Lovin' it, Craig! Ned in SC

Was supposed to do this trip in August. Lost my dad earlier this year and didn’t want to be away from mom so soon. Rescheduled to August 2026. Really enjoyed the ride report and it is chock full of forward intel. Thanks!! See you on the road!!!

Thanks again for great content Craig. Terrific scenery too. Love the comment on the Amish. They are great people, and I live around them here in Wisconsin. Ride safe.

Glad you had a weather break on the ride into Skagway. Beautiful Day. Keep pacing yourself and taking breaks to soften the irritation with packing. Seems like your are doing it just right. Looking forward to the next chapter.

I work for a railroad. After eight days on duty, I'm enjoying six days off. Then I'm packing for eight more days on duty. I'm so close to being in a position to do what you are doing. I'm still riding my 14 Vision with a bushtec trailer. I'm a Mormon / Later Day Saint. So i don't smoke cigars, However if i was going to light up, it would be a Maduro. 🤠 geez, how did he know that??

@livingofftheslab love following your journey. Planning on doing this trip for my 60th birthday. My question is have you ever done voice over or narration work? Your voice sounds like it can be in that line of work, kinda like Morgan Freeman.

Just curious on your hotel choice in Watson Lake. We stayed and at Andrea’s and I see you ate there, but stayed next door. Just curious if the hotel next door is nice than Andrea’s. We found Andrea’s to be fine, but never tried one of the others. We stayed at Andreas both directions.

I have not stayed at Andea's so can't speak to the rooms, but the Big Horn Inn is fine. The rooms were newly redone 7 years ago and still in good shape. Everything worked.

Question do u carry gas can or is there gas stations close to bike range .?
@LivingOffTheSlab2 ай бұрын
If you have a 200 mile range you should be fine. Just don't pass gas up. If you stop and there is gas get it. If you wanted to carry an extra gallon, that would be fine. If you do the Dalton, then the distance between stations is longer.
