Thank you, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the video. My family moved to Aurora before Aurora was Aurora, in 1834.

Beautiful. I miss the old Aurora. The last time I was there I was shocked and hardly recognized the place. I grew up in Aurora and was a member of the Vaqueros Drum and Bugle Corps. It was and will always be a special place to me. Kathi MaCurdy Shrewsbury.

Your video collage is absolutely divine! It truly brings Aurora's majestic, industrial past to life. Of all the postcards, I recognized most locations, instantly! And they brought to mind my walks through Aurora's Downtown and its historic districts. As an Aurora native, I still marvel at its wonderful architecture and always wonder how "modern" industrial Auroran life was, with all of the loud trains, streetcars, and factories at its busy core; I imagine it was like an old mini-Chicago on the Fox River. It's no wonder, today, Spanish television and radio stations have dubbed Aurora "Aurorita La Bella" (Little Aurora the beautiful).

This video is absolutely wonderful....I adopted Aurora as my surrogate hometown in 1972...and have always had such pride in this glorious town with the beauteous Stolp Island in its heart...Thank you so much for creating this wondrous view into the past and instilling bits of pride in those who have failed to see the forest through the trees. And your theme song happens to be from one of my favorite movies, 'Somewhere In Time'....Christopher Reeve will always be to me what he was in this.....TY

Great Video. Do you have any more Photos/Video's of Aurora Il from back in the day? Of the Old Drive Inn's, The Tivoli Theater, that other Theater in Downtown Aurora (what was it called?). If anyone reading this does, PLEASE post. Especially of Phillips Park. That park USED to be so Great back in the 70's and 80's, but they ruined it now. Back then, the Playground area, the Zoo, and basically Everything was so much better.

The other theater that was in downtown was the Isle theater right next to the biggest building in Aurora right before it was demolished it was strictly Spanish movies there I’d go there as a kid do you remember the stardust ball room on New York st between river n broadway n Woolworth s department store also Hensleys department stores

@@streetstyle9200 -- The Isle theater, where my parents would take us to see all the Peliculas back in the day. Great Times. That was right next to Leland Tower Apartments. I remember Hensleys. Wasn't that on Union in between NY and Galena? And I think they had 2 stores, one also on the West Side didn't they? As for the Stardust, that was right above the Tivoli on Galena. In the basement there was a Bowling alley, on the first floor was the Tivoli theater, and the top of that was the ballroom. Only reason I know is because after my original post of 6 years ago, I google searched and found pictures of Aurora from back then. Even found a couple from 1898 with Horse drawn carriages in the streets. Found a couple of Isle Theatre. One shows that right across the street was Montgomery Ward! Right next to that and on the Corner of Galena and Stolp was Carson Pierre Scott! I had forgotten all about that! Great to live in the "Information Age"!!!!

@@streetstyle9200 -- oh hell yes! It used to go around that open area. As a kid back then I remember the Playground area being ALOT bigger and better! It had way more swings, slides, and even had that Big Pirate Ship.

For absolutely no reason too. A dude died two states over, why would you riot in a city that had nothing to do with it. Apart from that, why would you riot in and vandalize your own city in general? What good does that do??

Nice video. Most of these photos are postcards available on eBay, however, for those who would like to have them. I remember well attorney extraordinaire Lambert Ochsenschlager. How does he fit in?
