MTB Savant, you are the reason I bought my SB4.5. I was watching all your original videos of you building the 4.5 and drooled through them all. Then you bought the sweet Nobl wheels and I about lost it! So, I bought a stock X01 build and have replace every part on it except for the fork and shock. I even bought a set of Nobl/I9 wheels. You were my muse for getting into the Yeti tribe. Thanks for the update on your 4.5 and I look forward to what your next ride will be. I am going with the 130 with or without you man!!!

@@mtbsavant5414 , I think it is the cool thing now to buy a new bike every 6 months. I myself think this is the most retarded thing ever! especially if you replace a bike like the Yeti SB4.5, which is still a great bike, and I do not even think the newer bikes are much of an improvement over the 4.5, at least not enough of an improvement to trade in. I actually would not mind having the 4.5, the newer bikes with longer front triangles and slacker are NOT always to my liking.

2016 SB5 checking in. I love my bike! For everyday riding I think the 4.5 would have been a better fit for me. No regrets thought! I'm also on the hunt for what's next as I'm also not getting rid of my SB5 anytime soon. I'm on board for a 29er though

Love my 4.5. It can handle almost anything and pedals amazing. Definitely has its limits with big jumps/gaps, but I don't do those very often, so it's not an issue. There is definitely a gap in Yeti's lineup now without the 4.5. To me, the 130 is too much of an enduro bike. The SB100 feels like too much of an XC bike. IF Yeti made the 4.5 to be a 140 front / 120 rear I feel that would be the perfect middle ground between the 100 and 130 models.

@@mtbsavant5414 thank you =) it has been a blast the 6 trips i have had on it during the 3 weeks i have had it. i still feel a little out of place on it due to the bigger wheels (26 on my old bike and 27.5 on this one) but i'm getting the hang of it. the huge difference tho is in the performance going down hill, my old stumpy was pretty good and i had some real good fun with it, but it can't even get close to match the speed i can take with the remedy

I ride my 2016 4.5 all the time. It took me a while to find the sweet spot, for my body position. The 4.5 gains and maintains speed like no other bike. I agree it feels like a racing bike.

I picked one up to ride until my current bike is being warranted. Mostly because it matched geometry with the bike I had been riding, and I always wanted to try to switch infinity. The SB 130 is just too much for my homegrown trails so I had to try the older version. Don’t know if I can ever get rid of this bike! It’s the most fun I’ve had in years!

Still love my 4.5 as well! I've been riding it about the same length of time. I've rode it with the 36 on the front, but I favored the 34 as I thought the weight of the 36 started to turn the bike into something it wasn't.
@mtbsavant54145 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know what you mean. The key advantage of this kind of bike is it's light weight. As you get closer to 30lbs the advantages start to diminish.

MTB Savant what’s the travel on your fox 36? Did you keep it at 140?

I feel the same way about my V1 Ibis Ripley. I've done some upgrades to mine and have also demo'd a lot of bikes within the past few years, and still prefer mine! Although, I recognize a need for wider tires and even more travel (not needed for my riding style though). Maybe, I'll eventually get the new Ripley or even the SB5 next?
@mtbsavant54145 жыл бұрын
Yeah the pre-new geo bikes have that telepathic steering thats unfortunately going away with newer bikes. However the tradoff is more stability at speed. I think it takes more than a demo ride to get used to it. Once you do it becomes much more natural.

@@mtbsavant5414 I haven't found one that I'm in love with yet. I demoed all the latest hyped up bikes but nothing has got me super excited. I really, really wanted the SB130 to be my next bike but I couldn't get along with the new geo. It was the first modern geo bike I tried and it felt very foreign / awkward. I may just need more time on it. Ripley v4 and 429 trail did nothing for me. Great bikes and easy to get along with but nothing special. I'm a bit of a Yeti freak and needed a bike so I defaulted to the SB100 with a fox 34 130mm fork. I definitely push it way too hard sometimes and need a bigger bike. I'm going to give the Arktos 29ST a shot as soon as I can get my hands on one. If that doesn't tickle my fancy, I'll probably go the two bike route and pair the SB100 with a SB130, SB140, or Ripmo. The Ripmo did get me a bit excited on the demo. Pretty damn nimble and playful for such a long travel bike.

Im still ripping my 4.5 as well, damn good bike. Question for you: how big a difference/ what kind of riding do you think really benefits from the DPX2 upgrade?
@mtbsavant54144 жыл бұрын
I can't say the DPX2 drastically improved the ride. Maybe on longer descents it could maintain it's performance better with more oil in it, but the stock dps is pretty good! Thnx for your comment. I STILL love this bike and wished Yeti would make a proper replacement.

Quick question: What is the maintenance like on the Switch Infinity/linkage on your bike and Yeti's in general? I understand it's going to need maintenance, but any issues in terms of reliability?
@mtbsavant54145 жыл бұрын
I've had really good luck with mine. The extent of my maintenance has been to inject the system via grease ports every month or so along with a wipe down of excessive dirt once in a while. Nothing crazy. However your mileage may vary. I've seen some posts where others have deep scratches in the stanctions and several with the smaller SB100 version of the switch infinify are struggling to keep their system torqued down properly.
