Fun fact! >goofy pic of Crash Bandicoot< Did you know: When they were making Bubsy 3D, they basically had a tech demo and decided to go to see E3 to see what Nintendo was doing for inspiration. Nintendo was doing Mario 64. They lost their shit and slapped a bunch of bells and whistles to said tech demo to try to "Finish" it in a reasonable amount of time. So not only was it made by people who were just text adventure designers- they lost their shit and PANICKED when shown what the standard was.

And really I should have put it "What the FUTURE standard was going to be" Around the same time, we also had Jumping Flash which was another experiment on how to do a 3D platformer.
