I just wanted to recommend the band Rise Against! They are my first recollection of hearing something and immediately loving it. Their album Appeal to Reason is where I started carving my own taste in music and they're still in my top 3 favorite bands with Tool and Linkin Park.

Breaking Benjamin has always been that band that I go back to every now and again. They never were my favorite, but never lost their touch with me. I listened to Dear Agony over and over growing up and picked up We Are Not Alone a few years ago. I also just recently bought Saturate, and have to say it's my favorite album from them. _Polyamorous_ has such a good riff, but I really enjoy _Phase._

Great choice. I’ve always loved the harmonic double tracking on the majority of the lead vocals with BB tracks…he has a beautiful tone but the DT adds an ethereal undertone which the mastering engineer does interesting panning with.

They have their own unique sound (mostly due to Benjamin Burnley's voice and their choice of keys). I haven't heard everything they've done, but have never heard anything I haven't liked. 2:22 seeing how you get tense when the chorus is about to hit, and you are so ready for the chorus made me laugh. It is so relatable. Breaking Benjamin is my favorite band because they seem to have perfected the use of dynamics in their songs. They know how the fill the musical space so well, their melodies are spot on, Benjamin's voice is so emotional, powerful and unique, yet relatable because his technique does not seem perfect like many singers are, sort of alienating those singers in a way. Benjamin's voice may not be technically perfect, and he does mess up some times, but he is hands down the best rock vocalist in the world in my opinion. Songwriting is mind blowing. Also, on stage, Breaking Benjamin always seems like they really get in their element every show. It is creative expression in such a pure form. Their music really does take me to another place. Best band ever.

One of my favorite things about this band is that Ben really hasn't changed his style up much, from first album to last album (excluding their acoustic album) they pretty well stick to their own sound, and really you can tell his progression in song writing through the albums! He also has some good...don't know what to call them, changeups maybe? Ashes of Eden and the alt version of Diary of Jane are a couple.

Great video. Love seeing the reaction format in an analytical light. If you want a deeper cut of Breaking Benjamin's, I'd go for Phase. If you're looking for one of their heavier songs, I'd go for Feed the Wolf or Blow Me Away. And if you want to analyze a good vocal performance, look into the acoustic version of Without You.

Breaking Benjamin became one of my favorite bands around 2003 when I was 11 years old. Absolutely could not get enough of them. I made mixed CDs for friends and family and would take them to school and play BB whenever I could. Of course I was pretty young and my preferences would shift rather quickly. By the time this album was released I was 17 or 18 and it was the MySpace era where metalcore/deathcore/post-hardcore were all I was listening to. Breaking Benjamin became "weak" (lol) in my eyes and I really didn't listen to them for probably 5 years or so. As I got older and stopped believing in such a thing as "guilty pleasure listening", I gave the first few albums a listen again and it was an INTENSE trip down memory lane. None of the songs I enjoyed in my youth suddenly sucked, they still rocked! Every once in a while I will play a few songs or spin an album and enjoy it for what it is. Definitely a solid band! But Geebz, brother, PLEASE try to get around to Bent Knee, VOLA, and Agent Fresco. As well as some more Caligula's Horse! For Bent Knee I would probably recommend Being Human, In God We Trust, Catch Light, or Hold Me In. There are a ton more, but unfortunately one of their albums isn't on Spotify and it wouldn't be a great idea to suggest a song that people wouldn't easily be able to listen to afterwards. VOLA - Inmazes, Gutter Moon, Ruby Pool, 24 Light-Years, Straight Lines. Agent Fresco - See Hell, Pyre, Howls, Bemoan, Eyes of A Cloud Catcher. I know you'll get one of these bands eventually and I will be here until then and beyond!
