Nice to see some conrail locomotives. Still active. Thanks for sharing.

Your channel brings forth some interesting family railroading history. My maternal great grandfather was Yardmaster at the Philadelphia Reading yard during WWII, when smooth and efficient delivery of goods and services was critical to the war effort. Thanks for keeping memories of the Reading alive. Subscribed.

Exposing rail history has always been important in my book. There is so much forgotten pieces of rail history in the east that I feel should be noticed once again. Hard-working men spent all their time and effort to build these rail lines centuries ago, and I believe it is important to respect the blood, sweat, and tears it took to build amazing feats like the railroad industry. Documenting the rail history is one way I find around doing this, reminding those men that their hard work was not forgotten. Cool stories, and Thanks for the comment!

This is some top tier videography. Showing the details of the location, water dripping, etc. A+! Do you know where the other conrails are?
@ReadingRailFilms7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the positivity! Lots of ex-Conrail engines are either out of service, or no longer in blue. Your best bet would be to search something along the lines of "old Conrail locomotives" in the KZbin search bar. Let me know how it goes!

Last Conrail-painted unit I saw was one of the aborted D8.5-40CW units, and that one was on its way to be scrapped. Crazy to know there are so few out there now... even just 15 years ago there were still so many running on the NS. Anyway, it's cool to see a unit this much older. Nice cinematography, it really captures the atmosphere of a warmup during a Midwest winter.

Thanks for tuning in! Yeah, these things used to be all over the place in the U.S. It's crazy how quickly they quite frankly vanished over the course of a decade or two.

This type of Pennsylvania was the norm when I was a kid. Now it is hard to find. So much new housing and retail. I used to watch the trains go through EG and south and cross 663 I remember when the trains were daily down to Philadelphia Those days are long gone
@ReadingRailFilms9 ай бұрын
Yes. Those days were the days, and many trains traversed this once busy line long before Philadelphia developed all these housing networks way out of the city. I'm planning on making a production about "then and now" on the Perk Branch. Look out for that in the future.

Very nice video! Not just trains rolling by. The scenery and composition are excellent and tell a story. My only suggestion is to get a wind sock for the microphone.
@ReadingRailFilms9 ай бұрын
Thank you for the support! Yes, I truly need to get my hands on something that will block wind. I've been working on things, but I've also been busy. Thanks a lot!

is she short hood arranged? the one I work with is from a similar vintage but is PRR and its long hood arranged.
@ReadingRailFilms9 ай бұрын
Yes, this locomotive is short hood arranged. Railroads back in the day based the arrangement on their beliefs and what is best for the crew, hence why locomotives with deep history may be different from one another.
