Cut your baffle plate out and get rid of those tuning plates. Get a sheet of 16 or 22 gauge steel from Lowe’s or Home Depot and make an upward facing heat deflector that sits between the grate rack and the opening for the fire box. This will push the heat up and over your grate and get rid of the hotspot on your grate and get you pretty even temps across the entire grate :)

There is a new Brazos coming out in a few months What's interesting it has a smaller intake from the firebox could help from running so hot Easy add-on The demo is on KZbin , Mason Dixon Too bad it doesn't have a firebox door that makes it harder To start

I wonder if you ran an inner exhaust to the bottom of the cook chamber and lifted the front of the baffle plate with the heat management plates To get the heat moving through the bottom instead of bouncing to the top
