This video is The Second Part of a wall repair project we completed recently.
The process we went through was to remove the old lathe and plaster wall plaster to the point of where it was still sturdy. Next was to bag up the old plaster in to rubble sacks and clear the space ready for repair.
On this particular property it wasn’t a listed building so Plasterboarding the area was the choice of the customer and with this problem being on the second floor, there wasn’t the worry of complications using gypsum based products due to it being an internal wall upstairs.
In Listed Buildings where the original plaster would have been installed with a Lime based breathable plaster which allows water vapour to pass through it ,
I would advise to replace with a similar plaster in the way of a Lime Based Renovating Plaster.
