As of now there are no plans to scrap, she is still safe on the railroad. They recently took apart and put back together the power assembly and she runs fine. Built in 1952 she had tiger stripe paint, the paint she has now was last touched up back in the 1980's. She still has her gyralights which are different in Mars lights because the gyralight only goes in a circular pattern.

We have 2 SD7's in daily use up in Vermont on the former NECR (Genesee & Wyoming owns us now) They're mainly used for yard switching, but I don't know where they originally came from. They came to us years ago in a 2 tone paint scheme, red on the bottom half, gray on the top half, with silver trucks.

Instead of scrap, how bout a museum? It's only a 70 year old sd7 after all
You can always send it to progress rail for a rebuilt into a ECO type locomotive. Unfortunately most short lines don’t have the capital to rebuild the motive power and much less maintain the track. Out of all my years of rail fanning the best maintained short line is the Florida East Coast and the US Sugar Company Railroad.

Mother of all EMD's! In some countries of ex. Yugoslavia the old EMD G16 locomotives still run today in regular service. G16 is an export version of the SD7/SD9 first built in 1960 (I think 1960 was the first year of G16).

@terrywallace13273 жыл бұрын
No .an sd7 has a 567b engine in her .this is the same engine that the fuse has. These locomotives is built from a family design and therefore, they sound like an F7 unit. Because every part of these locomotives are interchangeable, just like the big massive sd45s which contains a645 diesel engine in them.a mechanic that is skilled in fixing a 567 engine won't be lost when faced with a 645 diesel engine. A continuing family design or general motors diesel locomotives.

@844Steamtrain4 ай бұрын
The logs come from all over the state. Trees are cut down, and logs are shipped by truck from the forests to the sawmills. Then, the lumber is loaded onto trucks (or rail cars) and shipped out to other lumber mills, or building suppliers that sell wood products.
