I lived across street from drag strip in late 60s and early 70s. Seen Sox&Martin, Grumpy, TV Tommy, Jungle Jim and more. What a blast! Miss those days...

It was a solid run. I spent my childhood there. There are others in the region, but old dominion was truly a unique experience. This place had NASCAR championships back in the day and has seen all sorts of drag racing and oval track action. Though there are homes there now, us racers remember it.

I remember when I was around 11-12 yrs old I had the flu the weekend my dad was racing his car here and I was so excited to go I loaded up on medicine and just laid over by the oval track under the grand stands next to drag strip and enjoyed the day I didn't care if I was very sick with flu I wouldn't miss it for the world I would say this was back in 1997 or 1998. I also went to many bug outs with my father and a well known guy that had a old bug Tony lane was his name he has sense passed but many great memories and very sad to see it gone the place should have been considered a land mark honestly can't believe people just made it a housing development very sad.
