Also, OE800 is the most straight up beer tasting malt liquor out there. I recommend it to those who wanna try a malt liquor and want more of that regular beer taste. But with extra richness and higher ABV. We get the OE800 HG here in TN. It use to be very sweet and cloying. Now, they've addressed it, made it more balanced, and its an excellent choice now. I'd only try that if you're a macho man and can handle your shit lol.

You got to go to the liquor store in Oklahoma to by Strong Beer which there are a lot of different varieties there. Some of the restaurants are beginning to sell the Craft Beers on tap and they are in excess of 3.2%. This brand of Malt Liquor I don't believe I have seen but will look for it. Good, unbiased review! Had my first old English experience this week. And probably only my second or third malt liquor experience. When I was a kid, we used to have one of the local hobos go into the beverage center and buy us colt 45 and we were always so eager to drink them. He would ask what to buy, and we’d always say, we’ll drink whatever you like. But they were piss warm and it was quite disgusting. Of course, we always gave him enough money to buy a couple for himself. Kind and giving teenagers as we were. So this week I tried the old English. There is corn syrup in it now. I don’t know if that was typical in the old days, they make a point on the label to say that it is expressly, not high fructose corn syrup, but it is just corn syrup. I sat down with my first 40 ounce to watch a show last night. I tried Colt 45 and dumped it out. So the old English was a pretty huge improvement over the colt 45. But there’s something about malt liquor, I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s quite sweet And heavy. I’m not sure if it’s the corn syrup part of it, the way the carbonation comes across, but by the time I was into my second glass of it, I felt like I was drinking syrup. Has anyone else had this experience? It is just so thick. Smooth! Very smooth. The carbonation and it is more of the fizzy kind not the strong kind. So it kinda gets warm and frothy. Anyway. It sure did the trick. I slept better than I have in many weeks and I will attribute that to the old English. It got me all settled down and ready to hit the sack as it were. But yeah - I don’t know. It’s a lot of calories and kinda syrupy for a beer that’s only 5.9%. If it was CHEAP, I guess that would offset. But it was almost $5 at my cornerstore, which seems like a ripoff when they have a 40 of Bud a bit cheaper.

Wait, can everyone give the ABV in your state/country? It's 8% in Canada (Ontario), but I expected it to be the same or higher in the states, especially outside of the bible belt. I find it surprising, because it's difficult to find many beers, even craft breweries, above 6-6.5% here.

There are some states which have a ABV requirements. I know when I was in Oklahoma I could only buy 3-2 beer. They did not sell any 5.0! I guess it's depends on where you live how much alcohol is in the beers! Take Care!

I actually love this stuff, and I consider myself a beer snob. If you serve it cold, it actually has a pretty crisp taste combined with a rich malty creaminess that leaves a pretty solid aftertaste. I have always found it to be the best tasting malt liquor in the classic lineup. I personally find Colt 45 rather bland in flavor; however, it is pretty crisp. Haven't tried Country Club yet, but my father swears it's foul. But then again, he drank enough of it to kill a small village during his college says in a fraternity.

I plan on buying 5 "40oz Old english 800" bottles. where im from it is $7.25 a bottle. how much does it take to get drunk? Will i get more drunk of just one "26oz hardcore vodka" or 5 "OE 800's". one "26oz hard vodka" cost 30$ where im from. so 5 OE's is about the same. I don't know where you live but that is a big price to pay for a brew. As far as getting drunk, it has a lot to do with how your body handles alcohol. Some people get plastered on one beer while others it takes a couple of gallons. Good luck to you and whatever you do, don't drink and drive. Those two never mixes together. Take Care!

I always use old English 800 for cooking. Works great with equal part water in a pan in the smoker. Same ratio with a splash of apple cider vinegar for steaming crabs. Great cooking beer for a great price.

I think you probably had the 6% version Skoggit. In my area it is 7.5% or O.E. 800 HG. The 7.5% is the best but I have not had the 6% either. I remember drinking JAX at the E.M. club at Ft. Sill, OK. in the Army. It was 2 bottles for 25 cents.

@@skoggit You are absolutely correct. I live in California. We can purchase liquor in grocery stores. I went to Austin for a bachelor party, went to a super Market expecting to find liquor. I was shocked when the employee told me they only sell liquor at liquor stores and they don't sell on Sundays. You can buy liquor at 6 AM on a Sunday in California.

That 8Ball is really bad in my opinion for malt liquor, I would give it a 2.5 in all honesty, believe it or not I actually prefer Steel Reserve over olde English! it's relatively cheaper, and is 8.1%abv (I'm in Oregon) and easier to drink. i know you've done a review on it though! I have found out the same thing. The beer in the plastic bottles has a completely different taste compared to that of glass. It is kind of like drinking a Coke in a plastic bottle and then one in a glass bottle there is a big difference in the taste. Take Care!

As a man that lives in Milwaukee, aka the source of old E. Its sold in 12 pack cans, 16 oz tall boys, 18 oz bottles, 24 oz bottles, 32 oz cans, 40 oz glass and plastic bottles, and 42 oz plastic bottles. At full gravity.

I can send you a 7.5% abv glass bottle for review if you like. I stocked up before they went to plastic. The 7.5 and what you have there which is prob 5.9% abv. Also they make OE in 12oz cans 24 oz cans. Also available are 22oz, 32oz and 40oz bottles. But with Miller going plastic, who knows what is to come. Great review!!

Big Reggie Hey Reggie, The only thing is, it's illegal to send any type of an alcoholic beverage thru the mail. I wanted to send my Dad a collectible Budweiser bottle of beer and called the post office and they told me not to do it because it was illegal.
