Old Faithful Geyser

Welcome to Yellowstone's most renowned geyser, the Old Faithful! This is one of the six geysers for which the staff can predict when an eruption happens. It goes by lengthening the time between eruptions every 30 minutes in the last 30 years! Old Faithful provides credible evidence that there is volcanic activity beneath the surface, which creates the steam.
Geysers tend to build up in pressure over the course of time. Old Faithful has a reservoir directly underneath. Beneath and above the reservoir are thin tubes for which the water flows. Once enough pressure is built up, there needs to be some relief. Upon doing so, the geyser will burst and release all of the tension created from within. Therefore, that is how you're able to see the geyser bursting for just a few moments!!
