5 star doesn't mean the character is more relevant to the story, certain 4 stars are more important than 5 stars in the story. The character you're thinking of that you thought would be introduced in the potion event is Dori, but she was introduced already in Sumeru. Whenever the character has a title card in the version trailer, that's when they released, even if they were shown previously (example, Dehya's in the Sumeru quest from the beginning but we were almost heading to Fontaine by the time she dropped). The reason the Sumeru desert is shown in this trailer is because Cyno's getting his second story quest. The version trailers cinematically mix the main story, world quests and story quest content together so if you're ever like "Why are they back here? Why is this character talking about this one?" it's because you don't know what's from what quest until you play it. Freminet does have importance, he just wasn't highlighted much. He was also given a lot of shine in 4.2's "Thelxie's Fantastic Adventures" event. A lot of times some characters get the most lore or attention dropped in a limited event, which isn't too good if you don't play it because then you miss learning how that character thinks and feels. "Roses and Muskets" also did this with Chevreuse (and Ayaka and Chiori, minorly). The really fun and big events are the ones that do this, and also let characters meet up with ones from different nations and you get to see how they interact.

btw, you can explore fontaine without doing the archon quest, the area is not story locked like inazuma, same for sumeru :)

For things to watch next I recommend the animated short “The Song Burning in the Embers” it’s a fully animated short that shows the backstory of Arlecchino. I also recommend the Teyvat Chapter Storyline preview: Travail. It gives a brief overview of the entire Teyvat arc of the story. It’s been the thing we always refer to for info about new nations and stories. And it shows a character from each nation, and because we aren’t finished with the story yet, there are some unreleased characters too. Finally, after you finish the Inazuma archon quest, I recommend watching A Winter Night’s Lazzo. I’m not gonna say anything about it for spoiler reasons, just that it’s a great trailer.

@aliwi3476 and @scubadivingsquirrel556 - Just to clear things up! By the time of the stream, I had not touched Inazuma story stuff. Since then, I have recorded myself playing quests and I am part-way through Inazuma (Halfway through Chapter 2: Act 2).

5* is probably more about the design and kit of that character rather than their relevance to the main story. This is especially true for some of the 5* that gets released during the later region patches. Characters like Ayato and Hu Tao, while having ties to characters who do have relevance in the archon quests, don't have an actual role in the main stories themselves (outside of being name dropped). And then we have a 4* like Ningguang who's arguably the most important character of the Liyue archon quests. (She's my queen btw.) So if you want to limit your pulls to story relevant characters, you'll probably want to do your homework first.

For me, the underwater is fun. Though the controls are junky as expected of a underwater movement, the puzzle are fun and direct to the point. After exploring the underground of the dessert area, a less convoluted puzzles and pathfinding is a breath of fresh air, or in this case a cup of refreshing water.

Freminet was in the 4.7 trailer alomg with Lyney and Lynette because they belong to the House of the Hearth, where Arlecchino is their "Father".

Personally I love the desert and the underwater. The underwater is very peaceful and ethereal - definitely one of the best environments in the game in my opinion

The developers spent about an hour discussing the development of underwater swimming. They agreed with you: typically underwater segments in games appear for reasons the player isn't really supposed to enjoy. Aside from not having those reasons, they were are some of their players have relevant phobias. Therefore, underwater portions tend to be broad more than deep, light is plentiful, the slightly fanciful style of flora and fauna is replicated here, and breathing is diegetically NOT going to be an issue for any playable character. You can in fact drown in Fontaine, but it requires deliberate effort to exploit lag and/or glitches. One subtlelt you might not have caught in the Final Feast trailer is that not only is there a technique of stage magic which could be used to replicate the effect of Lyney and Lynette bowing and being then replaced with cutouts for somebody else to circle behind and push down, France's Belle Epoque period - a primary inspiration for Fontaine - was one of the most likely regions in time and space to find a random theatrical stage already set up to ease implementing that effect. (All of their magic tricks rely on real-world stage magic, although some of it relatively modern. This can become plot-relevant if you're familiar enough to spot some of the conventions.)

I won't lie to you. the .0 updates to the .2 updates are insane. Every year for about 3 months the game is absolutely amazing peak story telling. and then it falls off for 8 months with maybe a patch or 2 that are interesting. I wish genshin had consistent story telling but I also understand that its hard to make everything lore accurate without plots holes so it seems like they spend the 8 months crafting a banger story then they put in a bunch of not technically filler content filler content so they can cook for the next .0 update. I personally love the exploration updates though they normally do 5 update out of the 9 that add new areas to explore. the first 3 are from .0 to .2 for the new region and then they add subregions that connect the map or expand it further somewhere around .4 and .6 then they have the summer events for .8 everytime.

The characters don't need to be 5 star to be relevant actually and some 5 star characters are just straight up fillers. Look at Kaeya, he's a 4 star but he's a pretty major character because of the whole Khaeriah thing

Most important i think it's Archon quests but quick reminder that Sumeru and Fontaine AQ are long at least around 15 hour's sometimes you need to finish some parts in one go so be careful or it will reset

There are save-points within the parts that require you to do them in one sitting. Even if it resets the quest, at max he'll need to redo around 7-10 mins of content. There's no need to rush to finish a quest in one sitting

So, the thing about Story Quest is that they are all interesting in their own way. Which is more interesting than the other varies depending on what the person likes. I'd record all of them and see later if you think they are worth posting. If I had to pick, I think the most relevant ones are Zhongli's Act 2, Raiden's Act 2, Nahida's Act 2, and Wanderer. These are utterly important to the game's story and you should definitely record them. In addition to that, there are a few that offer a good follow-up to the Archon Quests but aren't essencial. Jean and Diluc after Mondstadt. Childe after Liyue. Raiden's Act 1, Ayato and Kokomi after Inazuma, Nahida's 1st and Alhaitham's after Sumeru, Furina and Navia after Fontaine. Finally, there's lots of world building in Venti, Razor, Albedo, Eula, Zhongli's Act 1, Hu Tao, Xiao, Yae Miko, Neuvillette, and Arlecchino. These aren't a list of my favorites, they are just the most relevant for reasons related to the story of the game or the lore. My favorite Story Quests are Raiden's 2nd, Furina's, Neuvillette's and Arlecchino's XD Also... I didn't do all Story Quests. I've heard Yoimiya's Act 2 is fantastic and Dehya's likely add to the Sumeru storyline, but I'm not entirely sure...

Honestly, version 4.3 limited event was one of the absolute best in my opinion. It was both serious and fun, we got Chiori previews, we got the funniest girlfailure Furina, we got basically a story quest wort of interactions with Chevreuse and we got our first playable character death in Yoimiya!
