Great review, Lou. I really like the colour scheme. I've had 5 gliders in five years and have really enjoyed the steps up. I'm currently on an AD Soar (very light, High B). Whenever I kite or raise it on a reverse launch, I always say, 'Hello, Beautiful'. Keep putting up the videos. Love 'em!

You would have a better connection to your wing if you would half or full wrap the brake or make sure you grap it by the knot Nice video, i liked it👌🏻

Thanks for watching…I think the holding of the brakes is a very personal thing. I definitely do not like taking a wrap (hands too high for me) or having my hands through the loops as many people do. I actually have my index fingers touching the magnets on the handles and I really like the feel of this….sort of the same as having them on the knots…just something I slowly incorporated over time…best wishes and happy flying.🪂

Hey Lou, thanks to your review, I bought the Progress 3 harness and am absolutely loving it. I've got 30 hours and am looking to upgrade from an A wing to either the Epsilon or the Iota and it doesn't look like that much of a leap in terms of difficulty. Any thoughts on that? I also noticed in this video you're using the windshield on the pod. Does it make a big difference? I'm going to buy the Lightness 4 as soon as it comes out. Anyways, keep up the amazing videos.

I think the Epsilon low to mid B wing is a great way to transition from the A class. It is super reliable with good performance while being safe. The Iota may be more “frisky” than you would want coming directly from an A wing but the best thing is to talk to your past instructor and even try to demo each wing. What you get depends on your progression, how often you fly and what type of flying you plan to do most often. The Iota is definitely a great wing to use with the Lightness pod…but if you haven’t flown a pod, first get used to it and then upgrade the wing…or get a new wing and get used to that and then go with a pod…try only one new thing at a time…just echoing what my instructor would tell me. I am looking forward to seeing what the new Lightness 4 will offer. Best wishes and thanks for watching!🪂

@@nestedacademy I forgot to mention that the windshield actually does work well. I was flying one evening with lighter gloves and it was really cold, and by periodically placing my hands on the flight deck behind the windshield I was able to get them out of the cold air for a bit…I now use it all the time. 🪂

Hey Lou I am an exchange student from Switzerland coming to UCSD next month. I fly paragliders a lot here and would love to bring it to San Diego. Is it recommendable to bring my light wing to Torrey or will it get destroyed because of the sand and salt water?
@loums52
@loums52 10 күн бұрын
You would launch from the top of the cliffs at Torrey and then (usually) top land so no worries about exposing a wing to the water or sand EXCEPT if you launch when the wind is weak or it should suddenly die and then you would land on the beach. Also, you always want to check before any flight to make sure the tide is not all the way in leaving no beach to land in case there is no option to top land. This can also happen if the winds should suddenly increase making a top landing unsafe. The weather reports are usually predictable and consistent so you should have a good idea of the conditions for that day. All in all, bring any wing you would want to fly, see what the locals are doing, and by all means ask questions of the pilots who fly there often...thanks for watching!

I’ve got this and really like it, I wondered if I should have just gone for Epsilon, maybe you can tell me if it’s worth the extra.

After flying the Epsilon again (have been flying the Iota pretty non-stop for 2 months), I have to say that when I flew the Iota again, it does feel more "light" and nimble. The Epsilon is very rock solid while the Iota is more playful and fun without being twitchy or temperamental. The turning response is wonderful as well as the glide. When I get back to Paramotors (any day now I keep saying), it will definitely be the Epsilon though. If the weather is bit more tricky then the Epsilon is more rock solid on takeoff, but I really don't take off in anything that is not comfortable. I just flew the Iota again on a day that had pretty moderate winds (Torrey) and I must say I really enjoyed the overall performance (was flying the pod). So all in all, I love having the Epsilon but I can see me flying the Iota most of the time. Thanks for watching!

Hey Lou, I’m interested in the Epsilon dls if you ever sell it. The Parajet is still running great.

Thanks for watching...I have no plans to sell the Epsilon right now but in the future, who knows! 🙂 It is a great wing and unless one really wants a reflex wing for PPG, I think it works great...and as a great PG wing. The Iota does give me, I feel, a bit more thermalling performance and it does glide very nicely. Cheers and glad the Parajet is doing well! 🪂

A few people I fly with switched to the Iota and love it. I’m a happy low b pilot and love the Epsilon series for pg/ppg. Are you still flying the eclipse with the atom 80?
@loums52
@loums52 5 ай бұрын
@@briant5992 Yes, they are both very nice but will definitely use the Epsilon for PPG. I actually don’t have a PPG right now. Right after COVID, I wasn’t flying it much and found someone to buy it. BUT…I am really missing the paramotoring so am looking for another one. I am actually been thinking about (for a long time now), an electric PPG. The drawback is the time of flight and the weight to get around 45-50 minutes of flight so still don’t know (Open PPG). I also know of someone building one for around 60 minutes of flight for a lot less weight so still waiting until I make a decision on this. In the meantime, still flying PG as much as possible. Cheers!

Best option is to ask a local instructor if they have a used one for you to use or demo and then try to get a good price. There are lots of used ones out there but have to be cautious that they are still safe to fly. Good luck.
