Great video btw! Talking about frieren not loving magic. If you pay attention to the converstions between Frieren and Flamme. Initially Frieren tells Flamme that she loves magic. Once 50 years have gone by she tells Flamme that now she neither likes nor dislikes magic. In this 50 years she's ONLY been taught battle magic by Flamme to allow her to kill demons. When Flamme offers to teach Frieren the spell to create a field of flowers it's the first time Frieren looks excited about magic again. She's a mage for the age of peace as Flamme says in the scene where she introduces Frieren to Siere (spelling). Frieren believes she doesn't love magic anymore but that's not really true. She's discovered the love of magic again through the experience of sharing it with the hero's party and teaching it to Fern.

I’ve seen people say that Flamme’s line of apprentices was Serie’s most successful branch of magic students, because it was Flamme who ushered in an era of magic for humans, while Frieren helped defeat the Demon King, and as for Fern, she noticed the fluctuations of Serie’s mana dispersion, while Lernen could not. What’s most funny is that their favorite spells are what Serie would consider mundane (Frieren and Flamme both favor the flower spell while Fern chose the laundry spell from Serie’s spell archive). It’s also worth noting that Frieren and Fern aren’t ambitious or passionate, unlike the mages that passed the first class mage exam. (I think that having ambition and passion was one of Serie’s criteria for becoming a first class mage, judging from how she passed Denken because she said that he still had a “fire” inside him.) I realized that the reason why Fern and Frieren practice magic is because of the people that were or are still in their life. Frieren collected spells because Himmel complimented her magic; Fern diligently studied magic to repay Heiter for raising her, and she stated that she continued searching for magic because she liked seeing Frieren smile. I think that this aspect of their character makes them noble. And just then, I also realized how this connects to the sunrise scene in Episode 4, because as the video stated, Frieren enjoyed the sunrise because she was watching it with Fern.

Another thing Frieren does well is they fully justify Frieren being an overpowered main character. We're not introduced to her as the strongest mage, because she's not. We don't truly see how OP she is until she's fighting someone, we react just like the characters, sheer awe and amazement when she just annihilates everything. So a naysayer would think "Oh so she's just hiding her power level, big deal, what makes her stand out from all the other OP MCs other than her being a woman?" And then Frieren proves the naysayers wrong when she reveals that the reason she hides her power level, other than to kill demons, is because she believes magic should not be used for killing people. Frieren singlehandedly restored the mysticism and wonder of classical magic in the fantasy genre. TLDR; Frieren is Her.

I think the amazing production is just a piece of why it’s so great. For me, it’s how relatable it is. I don’t know what it’s like to go on a world saving epic journey. I do know how it feels to lose someone and wish you’d spent more time with them.

Frieren is great because it has everything we have seen in anime and meshed them together in an awesome way. I used to love the over-the-top action in shonen but thanks to One Punch Man I started to look more into the characters instead. Mob Psycho 100 has amazing fights but I started skipping them(usually the long drawn out ones) just so I could see the character development. And the wonderful travel sequences in Mushuko Tensei solidified my interest with an anime's character and story progression over an overabundance of fight sequences. In Frieren the early fights are brief but they builds up our characters and lore even more. In fact they did it so well that I didn't realized that I was waiting every week for new episodes of the tournament arc. I don't like tournament arcs anymore but I was on the edge of my seat during the Mage Exam arc. At the end I realized I just sat through 28 episodes...28 weeks...without ever feeling that the series has overstayed it's welcome.

Yeah I really like Frieren, it's easily my favorite show since I started watching anime in 2010 or so (an I have seen many many animes since then). I really love the writing: the authors depicts all the themes they touch upon (such as eternal love, adulthood, memory, legacy, what it means to live...) in Frieren, in a very poetic yet accurate way. And the animation staff really managed to enhanced the writing with stunning cinematography and additional anime only scenes. It's truely a unique masterpiece like we rarely see on this medium. Also... I hate you for the Fieren/Ayanokoji parallel 😂

Many shows convey sentimental attatchment in a cycle involving some form of innocence that endures trauma while using friendship as plot armor. I love the fight scenes and the cool stories like those but I don't think the thrill of danger,decadence, and fear is the only sensation we can enjoy alongside a story of finding self. These main characters be going through it. And sometimes , the heavier their burden is , the higher in which they can be remembered and held as martyr. Alas in freiren it encapsulates the normality of life,at the same time a forever unending question on how we can all become a bit more better or humane. I think it's always a good time to admire a slice of life and less obsessions of death. Dope editing btw,i really dig the fonts and theme of the graphics, and sorry for the paragraphs😅🕺🏿

I'm sure somebody's told you this already, but it isn't Shonen Jump, or Shonen Magazine, it's Shonen Sunday. Sunday's most famous artist is Rumiko Takahashi (Inu Yasha), but Sunday also plays host to Mitsuru Adachi manga, (Touch/Cross Game) so "slow" but excellent writing is something they might be used to. Even if you're not a baseball fan, try the Cross Game anime (if you can find it), and I think you'll see what I mean by slow, but excellent writing that trusts the audience to figure out what's going on under the surface.

Rewatching this really made me appreciate animal companions more. Growing up, I really took my family dogs for granted. But just like Frieren says, it was only 10 years, but to them, it was 2/3rds of their life. And now theyre gone.. Why didnt I spend more time with them? Why didnt I make the most of their life in mine. Realising the analogy can be applied to our lives really made that funeral scene where Frieren cries hit a lot harder.

This anime its the meaning of Masterpiece! Put a VR connect to the 5 sense and you will be hooked for a real world. Because this fantasy world its like our real world like 98%. (please I mean emotional feelings and THE jorney of our all). The only thing that lacks to this masterpiece its a little more gore and the worst view of humankind, but this willn't fit well to the message that the shows propose to tell us. Maybe the demons can be a allegore to this worst part of humanity. but anyway, I say that because i love some raw violence, but cry me ass out for the platonic romance of frieren and himmel, and i can't die until see the children of stark and fern. God! I love this serie so much!

I've run LARPs for over two decades and TTRPGs for twice that, and some core lessons I've learned are things Freiren excels at. Showing is usually better than telling; thoroughly understanding the setting informs the story you're telling even if some of what you know never actually comes up; new info should be revealed as the story needs it rather than before; and a really good storyteller can break these guidelines in moderation as needed.

I binged it in the last week before the last episode came out. It's the most epic and relaxing watch ever. 12/10 😊👍 The end of episode 2 made me cry like a baby. Also it reminds me why i love playing mage in video games. Especially in FFXIV with it's award winning...(please complete the meme yourself). I spent over 1300 hours in the free trial alone bringing almost all jobs to level 60, including 8! different magic jobs. All on the same character. 😁

If you like intense character development, some good relationship dynamics, good fight scenes and some trauma (from what I've seen you love yourself some trauma, you like Jujutsu Kaisen) then yes! You'll love One Piece!😁

I feel like this analysis isn't aware that anime is already written in the manga, also Frieren is in Shonen Sunday, not Jump. Shonen is also just a demographic, not every shonen is batlle shonen. While battle shonen is the most popular anime there are still plenty of popular romance and other genres. Bakuman. (written by the same author as Death Note) was a slice of life in weekly Jump that was in the top 5 if not #1 while it was serialized. What truly is amazing about the anime outside of the source material is the direction, Keiichiro Saito is a rising star in the industry and knows how to make incredible anime. He turned bocchi the rock into a masterpiece and that's really impressive after seeing the manga have the MOST boring layout ever (its literally just 2x2 square panels)
