For over a year I barely used my PSP, and I found it pretty lackluster. Then I modded it and it became my favourite console for the next 4 years until it broke from overuse. CFW PSPs are amazing. I don't know why I didn't buy another one, but since the mod is so easy now, I think I'll have to rectify that.

This method still works in 2019. Thanks for the detailed video. I just modded my psp 2001 model and it works fine and everything went smooth. I ordered a new shell and a much bigger memory card. I was going to buy a ps vita but when i realized there wasn't much more it could do then the psp I decided to go with the psp. These things still run great in 2019!

@@fahadusman1311 Id suggest doing the entire process all over again and following the instructions word for word, if it doesn't work then I'd say you are out of luck . also that psp shell i ordered caused the psp to malfunction and break. Im so fucking pissed off you people wouldn't believe. Luckily I managed to get my hands on great condition FF7 10th anniversary PSP. The shell will not be coming off it unless it needs maintenance.

@Beat guy 777 Pandora is for unbricking PSP 1000s and some 2000s. Go to PSX Place for emulators. Upgrade that baby to 6.60 OFW and then put PRO C CFW on it and then go 6.61 Infinity and call it done.

Word of advise and warning for PSP 1000 users: @ 3:55, for PSP 1000 users, you must use PRO if you wish always boot up with the VHS on. If not, then you must select and boot up LME Launcher each time you start up your PSP. If you choose not to use the PRO, DO NOT select PRO CFW on the infinity screen. You will brick your PSP (To un-brick simply press and hold Home+Select+Start+Triangle+Circle and turn on your devise). If you did choose PRO, on the infinity screen, this is where you will choose PRO CFW @ this part of the video 9:16.

Just confirming for everyone that you should use the pro version for the PSP1000. I've just had a little adventure in firmware flashing because the 1000 didn't want to boot to LME. Not a big hassle, just a little wasted time. Great video mate.

I have a near complete PS1 NA set in PBP format (I did it to save space.) can a hacked PSP run those games? If so then I may get one sooner rather than later.. lol Right now my portable PS1 consists of a 10 inch Android tablet with ePSXe and 128GB MicroSD card and a ton of games. With a Bluetooth controller. It's nice really nice but all in one would be even better.

If they're in pbp format and you have the POPSLoader plugin installed on the PSP, it should run them with no problem.

there's one step in this that had me scratching my head and that is when he said copy the data.mfc folder from maker to flasher .. you actually need to move the file so it's not present in the maker folder .the infinity firmware flasher just stalled at 5% every time so i couldn't get the cfw permanent with that file still in the maker folder for some reason but with that moved it worked flawlessly .. hopefully this might help someone out :)

Very easy to follow, I will defintely use this guide if i get a PSP one day. This couldn't have been any better, its all properly explained. I honestly don't think PSP's are actually cheap, they range from $70 for 1000 and $90-$100 for a 2000 or 3000. 7:25 After doing the Launcher, my PSP boots into 6.61 Recovery Main Menu . Do you know why this happens. Should I just Exit and continue ? FOUND THE CAUSE OF THIS : Was because the PSP was not rebooted. I continued with the procedure -> at 10:15 I pressed the select button, but no VSH menu was seen. Repeated the complete procedure -> same problem. Using a Sony 1GB memory stick pro duo (Magicgate). MagicGate = supported, so it is an original Sony card. Followed procedure to the letter, did not do something wrong. Followed it exactly, what is the cause that it is not working ? Before 6.60 Pro-C2 (not permanent) was installed on this PSP. Installed 6.61 over this firmware to make it original. UPDATE: Tried the other permanent firmware 6.61 PRO-C2 and is working :-) VSH menu will be still there when pressing select. However, I do not get, why 6.61 LME 2.3 could not be installed permanent on the PSP-1xxx PSP.

I found an old broken PSP in my Nephews stuff and asked for its battery and other stuff but he really didn't knew or bothered, so I took it from him as he said "its scrap" wonder if I can do experiments on it. Order a new battery, the missing back cover and fixed the charger, got it to work and then I found your tutorial :) Vola, now its on the CFW and I can fully use it as it should be used. @@Agro__ you're supposed to run the custom firmware of your choice beforehand. Run it before first use, and run it any time you reboot until you get to the last step to make it permanent then you never have to run it again.

Ad the same problem with my PSP Go. If you have a PSP Go, you need to remove the "go" in the name in both "631go.PBP" and "661go.PBP" files. So, they should look like "631.PBP" and "661.PBP".

13 years since I last used a PSP and was using the Pandora Battery Hack (I bought one when they first came out - I'm 38 now though ha)... my 8yr old Nephew decided he wanted a PSP... this led to me buying a PSP off eBay that he wanted as well as a PSP Go for myself haha! This was a great video that was to the point and stayed on task whilst dropping little titbits of advice / suggestions etc. For the PSP, it was already compatible with the 6.61-Pro-C2 permanent firmware (via the CIPL Flasher), but the PSP Go obviously needed this - so thanks for helping me catchup on 14 years of progress and allowing me to install permanent CFW on the PSP Go inside of 20mins :) Plus note for those that may not have heard or remembered the Pandora hacks back in the days - So glad to see they finally got around needing a UMD disc in the drive even when playing ISOs (this was early days of the psp hacking scene though to be fair) so you no longer need a working drive

Shoutout to Sony for their ISO driver for that one, I remember needing a UMD in the drive as well until Sony starting putting out digital PSP games, so CFW developers just made use of the official driver.

I always knew it was only a matter of time! I took a stab at trying to hack it using IDA Pro to patch stuff but it was bloody stubborn - So glad the evolving nature of games deployment meant they started offering digital downloads... means 13 years later I can re-enjoy the old days without the annoyance of UMDs (Although irrelevant in my case since I went with the PSP Go. Next step for me is the 128gb Micro SD Mod! ha)

It's still working in 2019 ! I used this guide because I bought a used PSP which has 5.50 GEN D3 on it, and some games won't play because it was in an older firmware, so I updated it ! The only extra step that I needed was to edit the version.txt file in the flash0 of the psp because, by default, 5.50 GEN D3 writes that system runs 9.90 in this file so it blocks update, which was required to follow the guide ! PS : as I saw in the comments that LME wasn't working permanently on 1000, I chose PRO C2 custom firmware and it works when I reboot the system :)

Do overwrite my psp with the psp file that is provided in the firmware pack? Also do you overwrite when you copy from LME and paste to root of memory card? what is the root of the card, when you copy and paste does that happen automatically. One more thing, if I choose to upgrade my memory card do I need to do this all over again? Thanks

@@MrMario2011 ive first tried to somehow downgrade my psp go with the 6.60 downgrader, because 6.61 wasn´t supported by any cfw ive found.. it always ended with some kind of error.. then i saw it.. Infinity... but.. every tutorial ive tried on the internet how to install it was different from each other. and none worked.. then after 2 hours of moving and copying files i saw your video and finally your tutorial was the right one... after damn.. ducking.. 2 hours.. XD

If you have psp go you should rename 661go.PBP and 631go.PBP to 661.PBP and 631.PBP TO NOT GET ERROR

Guys I need help 😭 I was at the end of the procedure when I stated the bootloader (last step) and it sad that the file was corrupted, I will try to put again all the file inside the sd. I hope for the best. Had someone the same problem?

Solution found. Got to the same step and faced the same issue. Thankfully I never had to do that, haha! Was aware of CFW in the 2.71 days, dove in on 3.03, then once the Pandora method came out it was a wrap. I've modded (and saved) many systems using that!

Do you have a PSP Go or the phat/slim ones? For the Go,Google 631go.PBP and for the regulars, it's just 631.PBP. The same can be said/done for the 6.61 firmware. Remember that if you have the PSP Street, this guide is NOT to be followed.

i followed this tut, everything works execpt the permenant patch: ie when i reboot i have to relaunch the "launcher". ive tried redoing all the steps and still get the same result. no biggie i can still run what i need to after i relaunch the launcher so all is not lost. has anyone else got this same thing? psp 01g

Quick thing to note. If you're using a PSP 1000 model, it seems this will only work with PRO. If you use LME, you'll have to re-launch the CFW manually each reboot, even after doing everything. I now have a 3001 with LME, and a 1000 with PRO-C. Thanks for the great tutorial!
