So, I've just discovered, 2 years on, that a couple of people *did* comment with links to higher-quality versions of this intro, and KZbin decided to mark them as spam and not even notify me. Huh. I also am apparently unable to un-mark them as spam, which a forum post I saw suggests might be because they are replies and not direct comments themselves. Sorry to those two people who did find higher-quality versions, and it looked like I completely ignored you!

Okay, so, KZbin user +rikk83 wrote, 2 years ago: "i found and enhanced this version in HD kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHWnf6x6gNeWsNU" User +Henrique Martinez also commented with a link to the same video. Enjoy!

There were a couple of people who commented -- 2 years ago now -- that they had found higher-quality videos. KZbin never notified me of their comments, and decided to classify them as spam, and I apparently don't have the option to approve them anyway.

Not sure If I'm traveling through hyperspace, 2001 or Doctor Who?!
@logiclrd7 жыл бұрын
None of the above. :-) Way back in the day, when you went to watch an IMAX film -- any IMAX film, though most were (really high quality) documentaries -- this intro was the first thing that would play after a theatre attendant stood briefly in a spotlight with a microphone to tell you that if you feel any disorientation or dizziness, just close your eyes and the feeling should soon pass.

@@logiclrd Very similar to Doctor Who and 2001 in fact. It uses an optical animation technique called slit-scan which was very popular in the 1970s. Good example of the type!

Imagine if the script for this logo was this: 0:14 "wee we are going through a tunnel of light" 0:33 "welp its getting scary" 0:49 *"LOOK OUT THERES A BEA-"* 0:50 _camera crashes and the text _*_"YOU DIED"_*_ appears_

Is it possible you're thinking of the THX intro? "Mooo" :-) I don't remember seeing a robot with my IMAX...
