These videos exist mainly because nowadays it's hard to dispose of certain items via recycling. In many US cities, if you dump them into your trash, you are fined. You have to catch a rare local "collection event" where you have to haul your items to a park or something and wait long lines to get rid of your items (because there are tons of people there just like you). Or you pay recycling companies high fees to have them pick up or you ship to them. If you ship, you have to get boxes and packaging material. In short, there is a whole lot of hassle when you try to recycle stuff. Re-using old items and turning them into all these Frankenstein devices is nice (and funny), but I think the goal of most people is to simply get rid of the items, make them disappear. And that's exactly what is tough to do. Countries like China have already restricted the amount of trash the US can send there, making it even tougher. Some recycling companies have even gone out of business because they found recycling too expensive to do. We are now decades after we started this recycling movement and we are still in a serious waste crisis that we won't get out of anytime soon.
