Thank you, Laura! You really are a great teacher!!! Your explanations, demonstrations are direct and easy to follow and practice...so important to a fiddling "newbe" like me! Please keep up the great work...I will be following and supporting where I can. Happy Thanksgiving to you!

That's another great fiddle tune that i also played in nursing homes and fiddle festivals. That's great Country Style that you look like and played like. Hugs to you!

Thanks Laura, to me this is just a fun song to play and also captures the true Old Time fiddle music genre. "Old Joe Clark, he had a dog, like none you've ever seen. With floppy ears and a curly tail and six feet in between." Funny, reminds me of the Boil Them Cabbage Down lyrics. Well, back to working on Sourwood Mountain and Arkansas Traveler. Looking forward to the Jam session this evening.

I know so many verses of Old Joe Clark, but I didn't know that one. Now, as a beginning adult violin player, I hope I can play this on the fiddle .

@@sherrybirchall8677 If I can play it I know you will not have any issues. I found those lyrics in the O'Connor Violin Method Book I.

I’m attempting to play fast after learning all the notes. At the start of the video when you play the entire tune it seems you bow once for multiple notes sometimes.. but I can’t quite make it all out. It would be helpful to know when to bow up and down. How can I learn more about this?

Hi there! My advice would be to not worry about copying the exact bowings I do. Just bow in a way that is comfortable for you - slurs or not. 🙂

I really like this simplified version, but as a bit of a newbie, I tend to depend on sheet music more. The version in the "Fiddler's Fakebook" (which is my goto) is more complex, is there a good source for the sheet music of this version? Specially if its a big book with lots of other goodies?

I have two versions from different books other than the Fakebook. One version is in the book: Old Time Fiddle for the Complete Ignoramus (That would be me). He has 45 songs in this book to include Old Joe Clark and it comes with a CD of the songs as well. As a forewarning, Old Joe Clark is played on the CD with multiple slurs as well as double stops, but I learned it just based on the basic music notes with no slurs or double stops. These I added in later. The other version is Mark O'Connor Violin Method Book 1 which has a basic version of it as well. I've worked completely through the Mark O'connor book with my instructor along with adding in other songs from my Ignoramus book, the Suzuki book, The Fakebook, and on occasion from just searching the internet for free violin sheet music (normally the easy section). Good luck Michael and I hope this helps and that you find what you need.
