5 hits. No kidding, I just did it last night. Crushing Great Axe +4. Morion Blade. Dull Cat Ring. Vitality at 32. Str at 32. One hit was about 1050. It seriously took me about 5, maybe 6 hits including the very last hit of about 200 points. Took me about 20 minutes of dying and coming back, just to learn his moves and be able to dodge them. But it was super easy once I did.

This is the best guide to this fight that I've found. He destroyed my soul when he drained me of two souls... so I've been avoiding this last fight. Going to try again today. I learned that the massive AOE is easily interruptible and that the deleveling grab can be managed.

Best thing to do is stay at medium to far range then all he does is the dash attack, the storm cloud attack and the sword slice with a shockwave.

Excellent video. If you're a magic user buff with Warding as you enter the boss arena, that will give you a much greater margin for error if you miss time rolling away from one of those 3 hit combos.

Can anyone confirm: after he de-levels you it appears extra souls are added to your blood stain? He de-leveled me twice, and when I reclaimed my souls I noticed I had over 100,000. sooo it was easy to re-apply those levels. Think i only got about 4,000 souls on the way up to him. Strongly doubt that i'd tried him enough times to build up over 100k. eh. can anyone confirm?

I just beat him. Once I understood his moves it became way easier. I don't think fighting him with a mace for my priest build was a good idea though lol

Beat this guy tonight... Took me a few days because I didn't want to keep going back because of the leveling attack.. but I almost killed him yesterday, he had 50 health left maybe less, a tiny amount, and he grabbed me with the level down move and the guy with me was hitting him and it didn't work, I still died. Was so angry that I went back and won out of pure anger lol.

No one mentions it but the night with the room sword and shield they look gold and if you help them all the way to the meets his father he'll give you a key to the mausoleum which gives you the demon sword which does considerable more damage to him 222 per hit and you can upgrade it once you kill king a lot with his soul and the sword that he gives you makes a fight a lot easier

On ps3 I struggled with this boss so much that I had to hide behind the stairs and cast magic.. I may of even poison clouded him with the theifs ring.. But on ps5, I went in with a +5 pure bladestone Winged spear and tore him to pieces.. Out of all the bosses I really enoyed the fight, just kind of wish I wasn't so OP at the time.. I went in expecting the worst.. And it turned out I was the boss XD

Big fun of the unavoidable grab attack. Dodged it perfectly like 3 times during one attempt and got hit nonetheless. I guess when ds2 is filled with awful hitboxes it’s a terrible game with artificial difficulty, but when this one has the exact same problems it’s a flawless masterpiece.

This games absolute trash especially in this fight. Got input delay and or none registering so instead of healing or attacking character just stands there and with the de leveling bullshit dude spams the move 5 times in a row and when I hit him to interrupt it glitches out and still gets me -.-

I've been trying to do it without a shield but like his speed just does not mesh with the Demons Mechanics. I got good enough at DarkSouls 1 to not need the shield, lol not working against this dude.

honestly, whenever I i fight this guy I just think he's a joke boss because of he gives so much time to react to his attacks, his projectiles have horrible tracking, and his AoE is just solved with the monkey method
