I finished this book two days ago. Loved it. Unique and fun, I can't wait to read the rest in the series

The scene with the main characters transition to the new version blew my mind. Without giving anything away it would be a surreal experience.

I love John Scalzi. This book is one of my favorites of his, second only to Redshirts.

Totally agree with your review here. This book doesn't take itself too seriously and carried that on right through the series with not just John Perry, but Harry Wilson too. A great read. I was recommended this book by author Steven L Kent (Author of the Clone Rebellion series) as well as The Legion of the Damned series by William C Dietz.

I would recommend Old Man's War and Redshirts to people who think they don't like sci-fi. My wife was curious about what was making me laugh out loud with Old Man's War and read it with me, she loved it. In one of Scalzi's more recent books the humor got a little too much and became a drag. I like military sci-fi, it appeals to the boy in me, unfortunately a lot of it is very dull. Enjoyed your review.

UNITY 151 Booktube there’s definitely a template classic military sci-fi tend to adhere to. Would love any recommendations you have for modern military sci-fi. As an independent author myself I feel independent authors are much more free to brake moulds.

I read this book like 10+ years ago. You’ve GOT to read the others. The way he connects the books is…. well…. Interesting.

Just getting into the Ghost Brigades after reading Old Man’s War thrice. Fantastic to see the connection between the two novels is none other than THE Harry Wilson

Great review as always. I have wanted to read some of John’s works for a while now. Redshirts I think I want to start with, but also the fuzzy nation books sound really interesting

He’s such an accessible sci-fi author, I think you’d really get on with him. Redshirts is a great read if you’re a Trekky and will get the references.

I really loved this book. The rest of the series was not as good but still entertaining reads. Old Man's War 5 stars, The Ghost Brigades 4 Stars, The Last Colony 4 Stars, Zoe's Tale 3 Stars, The Human Division 4 Stars (maybe 3.5 honestly), The End of All Things 3 Stars.

@@Sci-FiOdyssey Just a heads up, the writing style in the last two books gets a bit odd as they were published as serials online I believe. They tend to be a bit choppier than the smooth flowing books before them. If it hadn't been for that they might have been solid 4 or 5 star books. Enjoy!
