I have a particular fondness for small books. Their compact size makes them perfect companions for travel and cozy evenings. There’s something delightful about flipping through the pages of a little gem, where every word and image has been thoughtfully curated to fit into the limited space. It’s not just about the convenience; it’s the charm that small books hold within their pages that captivates me.

I also have a few solutions manuals to old books from the 60s and 70s. They’ll either be completely handwritten or typed with an old school typewriter with some handwritten formulas such as integrals.

Charles Edmund Merrill Jr., president of the New York textbook publishing house, Charles E. Merrill Company, was known for his involvement in the US federal court decision to permit publication of James. Joyce’s “Ulysses”. I think Charles Merrill publishing may have become part of the now defunct Bobbs-Merrill publishing company. This raises the question: what, if any, mathematical treatises or textbooks have been subjected to censorship by one political authority or another? And of those that were, how many have contributed to the growth of the discipline and what others have been ignored or abandoned in the creation of the mathematical canon? Lots of great maths to learn about in either case.

Complex number and complex analysis : is my favorite subject of mathematics, I still occupied with C/C++ programming and theory of language and compatibility, i hope when i finish my project i will return to master again complex analysis, and Lagrangian-Hamiltonian Mechanics.

What's the best way to learn math? Is it through many many exercise like solving problems or like building the intuition behind the math? I feel like sometimes i can solve the problems very well but still fail to understand its implication especially why the formula is like that and not the otherwise and why it is useful

I can't move into this yet, I'm still struggling w/ topology & real analysis. With self-study, I miss the tests from schools. There's something about tests that forces your brain to stop being a bch and understand the material. I found an AI test generator for writing, maybe that would produce something usable? I think Conformal Mapping was in Kreyszig's book on math engineering? On your videos, if you could add (if it's not there already) a course on topology, it would be appreciated.

Very important in self-studying to make your own tests. Or else you'll find you are just forgetting everything and not learning it very deeply. Testing fixes this 100%. My method: As "homework", make flashcards about all the theorems and definitions, do all the proofs, and do most of the exercise but reserve some for the test. Then the test consists of 1) reproducing all those theorems from memory 2) a selection of the difficult exercises that you have not previously solved 3) a few of the proofs that you found to be tricky. The goal isn't necessarily to pass the first time (Although you certainly could), but just to A) Get your "spaced repetition" which helps with remembering things and B) reveal your weakness. Then take the test again a week later, correcting your errors. All of this takes more time, but not doing it is the real waste of time.

With respect to metamathematics & philosophy of mathematics: "The Continuum: A Critical Examination of the Foundation of Analysis" by Hermann Weyl is an absolute gem. I'm still searching for a (decent) reprint in German, only have a scanned pdf of this excellent work. But there are definetely reprints of the English translation. It's also maybe a good topic for a review (in case Math Sorcerer read it).

@@yurigansmith Hermann Klaus Hugo Weyl was very literate in philosophy. His one of those rare gems whose holistic approach to his field and life, is very intriguing. Scientists should really appreciate Philosophy to actually see the world differently. That's why I'm so obsessed with Albert Einstein, David Bohm, Schrodinger, Niels Bohr, Kurt Godel and Werner Heisenberg. They realized that life is very complicated and multifaceted and didn't immediately generalize that science rules out every aspect of reality.

You need Riemannian Geometry. There are tons of books about. One of the simplest, physics inclined, is Sokolnikoff - Tensor Analysis - Theory and Applications to Geometry and Mechanics of Continua. Afterwards You can try John Lee's phantastic trilogy. Meanwhile he wrote even a fourth book, about complex Geometry.
