I have to agree with you, Kabaeva changed the sport, it's the truth but the other truth it's that sadly also it made bad for the sport, in the past decade there was so much emphasis on the back flexibility it stole credit to many other kind of elements that also were very difficult to perform and not so many gymnast including Kabaeva were capable of performing it well, even the career of Kabaeva especially after 2002 was very criticized not for her backbending element but for her bad execution of them and the fact that many of those elements were very well scored, think that although rhythmic gymnastics is getting better on the COP still it lacks the perfect balance between body difficulty and apparatus handling but hopefully someday it will be reach

I can say the Athens code was one of the most difficult ever, i was a gymnast at that time, and... i swear it was. Actual code, for me, is of course difficult about handlings and risks, but you must admit that the body difficulty you can see is ALWAYS the same, always... especially in team competitions... sometimes it's quite boring, the best code for me was the London one. I can't enjoy one performance because i'm too concentrated in hoping something doesn't go wrong, always checking trajectory of throws, always trying to understand how the gymnast did a thing... i think for the public was way better looking at the incredible body difficulties and enjoying the gorgeous Kabaeva's smile.

SUCH a delight to watch!! l dont know what you were talking about because l am new to the sport, and am into regular Gymnastics. BUT watching what they do now ....compared to Alina ...is like night, and day! WAY more beautiful to watch than the routines now! IMO.

It's very different indeed. A bit like the difference between old and new Artistic gymnastics.

Very interesting video... Can you make more like this? Ex. Other legendary routines ( I am curious about Alinas 2004 ball one), routines of gymnasts with the previous COP... And maybe include junior gymnasts too? It would be nice to have the actual score, just to see the difference 😍 Love your channel!

Why did you make me (re)watch Kabaeva's ball? Now i want more. I'll have to leave all i was doing to rewatch all of her iconic and non iconic routines, yet again... Interesting video BTW, do more of these if you can!

Ah ah !! I'm sooo sorry !! 😂 I'll try to do more video like that !

I believe some old elements were initially with lower score because of the code of points limitation at their time. Later many were reduced in difficulty or even banned because of the injury factor. For example the back split jump that Kabaeva, Kapranova and Besonova were doing back then is no more an option now. I wonder how many body elements are not used any more in the current RG code of points.
@ClematisRGVideos5 жыл бұрын
Yes, very true, the percentage/importance of elements had different value. The element that were mostly banned where element excited on the knees (or they basically value nothing today like 0.1 or 0.2) and elements with great flexibility (like the ring with the foot stuck by your shoulder, like Kabaeva or Kanaeva (clubs 2008) used to perform).

What about Bessonova? I know it's not that old, but…

Thank a lot for this :) So interesting to see it again and it looks so diffrent from routines of today. I remember an interview with Irina Viner. She was so angry and mad about the new COP. She says boring, too simple, not interesting enough and why dance moves. I could not really understand what she meant. But now.. Please, please. Can you do that again with the legendary gladiator hoop routine of Tamara Yerofeeva from the EC 2002 in Grenada?
@ClematisRGVideos6 жыл бұрын

That little clip at the end of one of the Averina twins, was that because you like her and she reminds you of Kabaeva and her style? Sorry to ask, i was just a bit confused. :)

No, it was to confused you ! ... No, no sorry, it's not that, it's just because I just like her (and your suggestion of Kabaeva style isn't silly!)

It looked exactly as if you tried to undervalue Kabaeva. To be a lil bit more objective, why wouldn’t you compare her ball routine to someone else’s ? Of course, RG is not track and field where meters and seconds are exact and only criteria ! Still a comparison could have been done to show why this lady finally won all the possible gold in the world or why there should have been another winner at her times. Thank you
@ClematisRGVideos6 жыл бұрын
As I said in the final part, my goal wasn't to undervalue Kabaeva ... I mean ...9 times World champion, 16 times European champion, Olympic champion, she's an icon, revolutionizing RG... I can't undervalue her ^^ It was just to show how the evaluation of this sport evolved and how a Code can really change the style/element of a gymnast. To do a complete analysis of her, with the old CoP to compare her with Tchachina would be great, but it take a long time (I don't remember the 1999 CoP anymore !). However, it would be an interesting thing to do as you said !

What is a kip movement?
@ClematisRGVideos6 жыл бұрын
It's when you do a part of the movement and then the other part (it doesn't mean a nap ^^). For example, when you do a turning stag leap, if you bent your front leg and then raise you second leg, it's a kip movement (mouvement à bascule in french, Качели in russian, movimiento de vaivén in spanish ... I dunno which language you speak, but it will perhaps help to hear it in another language)
@cecileraya34266 жыл бұрын
Thank! I actually speak French as my fist language. I get it now. I was a bit confused because a kip movement in Artistic Gymnastics is very different.
@ClematisRGVideos6 жыл бұрын
Ah ah, try a kip movement without bars ! Et je parle français, si jamais tu as du mal à comprendre quelque chose en anglais, tell me !
