I think Úlfs parents would have loved this. Imagine if they could have known that a man would write a song about their son, who they obviously loved, 1000 years later

You weren't kidding when you said there would be more soon. I love the way that you deliver the stories, your mixture of historical characters and the genuine respect for those that lived during those periods paints an incredible picture. Too often, people use history merely as a set piece, they don't care about who or why they fought. You and your wife are an amazing duo, keep up the great work!

Yeah sounds cool! I usually work with Slavic languages but your videos might make me change my direction into something more germanic😄 Old Norse, in your interpretation, fits really well and it's just beautiful. Anyway, a good start, so we are waiting for more videos like this!

Passer-by, please stop here for a moment, and spare a thought for these parents who lost their son. And maybe, if you can, if you will, spare a prayer for them. And do not miss a chance to tell and prove to your loved ones that you love them. I have nothing to add. You can resume you journey. Thank you.

It must have been really sad for the parents of Úlfr and the parents of the other men who lost their lives far away from their homes.

So this is clearly post-Christian because they invoke Mary and God, but in an alternative history where Christianity never caught on outside of certain isolated places like Hayastan or Sakartvelo, would Barkvidr and Helga have prayed for Frigga and Odin to save Ulf’s soul and guide him home to Valhalla?
