Nice restoration DJ. I like those old pearhead low profile Plumb ratchets for tight spots.

Excellent job.👌👌 I would use my Japanese white paint marker to highlight the Plomb letters. It would really make it stand out. I do it on many of my restored hand tools with raised letters

I have to see if anyone in my town carries Japanese white paint marker, thanks for the idea!

Beside the chrome plating and the nickel plating, it could also be a silver zinc plating or a silver cadmium plating. That last one is very dangerous and forbidden to be used on the tools anymore.

Yea, I do know about silver cadmium plating, someone has warned me before, so I try to remember to use my vacuum.

Years ago my uncle was a mechanic for years and years and my dad had a very small set of tools, and we had no 1/2” drive stuff at all. So when my uncle would come out to work on our mowers and stuff, he’d always bring his own tools. So when he started to get ready for retirement, he brought us a bunch of stuff, and this was the 1/2” ratchet he gave us. Built like a tank, he had bought it brand new in the late 40’s. Now him and my dad are gone and I am the custodian of this great ratchet. My selector is the same way, it spins all the way around, not sure if it did it new.

I do not think it is supposed to, but I glad you have something that has some history for you and your family, just think of all the things that ratchet has worked on!!!!!!!!!!!
@101paulw Жыл бұрын
@@djstoolrestorations yeah I’m sure it’s not supposed to, but doesn’t seem to be affecting the operation at all so I never thought about seeing what was wrong. I might now though, it needs a good cleaning at the very least.
