Great Doc. "Such is Portugal, (...) taking her place today in that family of free nations (...)." Pretty words. Ironically however, Portugal at the time was under the dictatorship of Salazar, and would be so for 24 more years still.

Thanks for the film, this is quite an interesting short touristical documentary portraying a few aspects of the caracteristics in our country post world war II ( 1939 / 1945 ). The boat rope swings for the kids are a catch, really !

In 1950, Portugal had a fascist government under Salazar. It was overthrown on April 25, 1974. When I lived there in 1975-76, the Portuguese referred to the Salazar period as "a ditadura fascista."
