Something about the Mácha's region protected landscape area
● The protected landscape area Mácha's region (full name Kokořínsko - Mácha's region) was declared in 1976. As of September 1, 2014, the PLA was expanded by its second, non-contiguous part with an area of ​​136 km² / 52 sq mi called Mácha's region, located in the northeastern vicinity of Mácha's lake. The protected landscape area covers an area of ​​approximately 410 km² / 158 sq mi. It belongs to the most beautiful areas of the whole of Bohemia. The protected landscape area covers mainly the territory of the Liberec and Středočeský Regions, only a small part in the southwest belongs to the Ústí Region. The landscape has a canyon-like character, in the northern part it becomes hilly, it is characterized by sandstone rocks, many of which create various shapes - rock overhangs, small caves, niches and ledges. Polomené mountains is an area in the PLA where the hills (for example - Vlhošť hill) were formed at the end of the Tertiary, when the relief was broken and basaltic and sinter magma penetrated to the earth's surface.
