When I first moved to NYC this is the type of music that was being played in many of the clubs downtown. It seems like a certain time frame from '93 to '96 where the best house music was being created. I could be wrong but this is what I remember. 21:15 to about 27:00 is amazing music to me.

Can't help you w/NYC, my late 80's - early 90's were spent in the lofts and warehouses of Chicago. I'll never forget the floors bouncing so much from people dancing, at one particular Milwaukee Ave. spot, that I was afraid we'd all fall through. It was a truly revolutionary time for me and has inspired me in so many ways. I still have the Technics 1200MkIIs I saved for and bought at age 14, and all of my vinyl. Those were the good times.

Current house artists who emulate the classic sound or just make real (non-future) deep house still: Leon Vynehall, Session Victim, Floating Points, Rick Wade, Herbert, Max Graef, Trentemoller, Moodymann, Jack J, Jimpster. Or just look up real detroit deep house. That should keep anyone going for a while, enjoy :) Side note, if you have never heard of Pepe Bradock you need to listen to him first. He produced in the 90s but his tunes sound as fresh as if they were made yesterday. Look up his song Deep Burnt. French house FTW ;)
