not that the music was much better back then, but the music was much better back then wasn't it, oh i know i am biased because it was all fresh then it hadn't all been heard before and every song ever written been sampled and mixed by someone, also when i was introduced to this scene i did it in india, thailand and such, well the atmosphere was so much more relaxed, than a night club full of steamy drunks. Can I paint you a picture... Imagine after a nights long party session on the beaches, watching venus and mars in the oriental sky above the palm trees, now as many partygoers make their way back home to their hotels and beach huts, the ones who have hosted the music for the night now want to kick back too, and they want to dance, only if they did so openly on the beach the local police would be down there wanting backhanders, so we put the music on but dance in the ocean, chest high, the water tropical warm and exotic, the company excellent the music sublime, the atmosphere electric, dancing was like floating a slow motion mix with fast tempo of hands and feet etc, Whilst back home it was another grey drizzly morning, the bus was late yet again!, someone had spilled something sticky on the only spare seat and you had 15 minutes to get to work before the boss got in, cos you got up late, me i hadn't been to bed nor was i likely to for some time yet, and i was sorta flying- swimming- dancing- laughing through my 4th cocktail, and i was seriously thinking of you all honest.( ͡◉ ͜ʖ ͡-) namaste

Great track selection.. Forgive my honest opinion but I was disappointed by the lack of beat matching for transitional mixing. Without beat matching and phrasing to set up mixing where both records are in sync and playing at the same time, it really takes me out of the experience. You did a great job of mixing the intros of tracks where no beat was present though.

No offence. When I was there in 92-96 we mixed off tapes (no beat matching), then DAT (limited BM) then CD (never fall asleep lunchtime with a wallet of CD's) It was very raw and not always perfect but being in a jungle or on a beach made that seem accepted. We didn't care.
