Here's how I did it back in the 80's & early 90's. Enjoy!

On Friday nights they would lower the ball, when it reached the floor, the music would start and the dancing would start. Good times! Thanks for the pinspot tip, never heard of them but I'm very glad you mentioned them

White is the best to use. With a bit of smoke they cut through the colours of any wash lights you have.always looks cool with white beams cutting through the colours.thanks for the vid.really cool thst they are making a comeback.

Hey Brian! I sent this to your FB messenger earlier today and realized you probably won't see it, so I thought I'd try this... I have been meaning to reach out to you for some time. I am a small time Green Bay Area DJ and came across your videos a couple years ago. We are very much alike and I even wonder if we didn't cross paths “back in the day.” We are about the same age and I have some connections to Mukwanago, a couple cousins and friends, and used to go there for the occasional house party. Good times! ANYWAY, I am reaching out for some advice on mirror ball lighting. I know of another DJ here in GB that has a 12-16” mirror ball and saw him light it with a pair of Intimidator 360’s. It filled a large hall really nicely. It looked so great I decided at that moment that needed to have one, so I bought a 16” ball and hit it with my intimidator 260’s. It looks pretty great in my living room, but when I set the same up in a small venue, it was quite underwhelming. I realize the power difference and not zoomable beam angle are my issues, but don’t want to pony up the $3500 it would take to get a pair of 360’s. I have been doing my homework and am down to two candidates. I was wondering if you could give me some input. My ball is on top of a Chauvet flex stand, with the Prox 1rpm motor under it. Option 1. 3 Chauvet DJ pinspot Q1Z’s, as they have a nice tight beam and seem to be the brightest pinspots with DMX color. I could put 2 180° from the sides, and one in the middle from down low, as in your videos. Option 2. 2 Chauvet COREPar Q120’s, with the lenses to make them 20° beam angle, placed close to the ball. These have 100 watt COB which would have comparable power to his 360’s. I think, but am not sure, that if they are 2-3’ from the ball, I would have a pretty tight coverage. What do you think? If you took the time to read all of this, THANK YOU. I really appreciate your advice. You are literally the only “influencer” on KZbin that I actually listen to. One of these days I would like to come to Milwaukee and meet up with you. We really are like brothers from another mother. Thank you again if you actually read all this! 👊🏼😎🤙🏼

I've been a fan of mirror balls ever since I seen the one during 'comfortably numb' at the end of the Pulse concerts. Although maybe a little large for mobile dj 😕

As Ive mentioned before I have used a mirror ball since the beginning. Every other dj kept telling me to ditch the mirror ball and get a star ball or those jelly domes. I never liked the look of those. I used to hang it in the middle of my 10ft ibeam truss. Then use two pins one on each tripod angled kind of at a 45 degree angle up at them from each side. Now I have a DECOR MBSK. Before I made my own bracket for a stand. Then I shoot either two 10w LED pins at it or my 60w movers. I mount them either under my speakers or off the corner of my vertical truss.

Used to have one just seen this video now I found a second hand one with all the mirrors intact and at a bargain price of £10 I’ve even found some old original pin spots although they do get hot so maybe I should look at an led version

Thanks! I really want one but a lot of venues won't allow me to drill! This is doable! Thanks!

Only problem is on cheap mirror balls the little mirrors drop off.
