I am from Gambia from the Aku ethnic group who are known to have relatives from Sa Leone. In fact we speak the same krio spoken in Sa Leone. This music takes me back to my youthful days. Good music. Thanks for doing this.

Most of the Receptive Slaves from different regions of West Africa were brought to settle in Freetown, Sierra Leone which was the center for British West Africa colonies. 33:27 One of the prominent Bishop (Ajayi Crowther) who translated the Bible to Yoruba is a Receptive Krio from Sierra Leone 21:39

@@shekamohamedsesay6305 I know my people history. Every Yoruba men and women know Ajayi Crowder, he was a pure Yoruba man taken out of Yoruba land. He was one of the people that knew where they were taken from and came back, through Sierra Leone of course. What I heard here in the music is pure Yoruba and not mixed with any other language. Period!

Listening to these songs takes me back to so many places in beloved Salone. I see the drums, calabash, balangi, the fishermen, the canoes coming in, the ole mammy selling kenkenken, the young man choosing a half en half Lungi cocnat, and another day going by in sweet beloved Salone. What a unique blessing!

Honestly Bishop Ajayi Crowther did more harm to Yoruba people than the good he did. How will he name the Aku tribe of Nigeria Yoruba. The missionaries in west Africa said when they came to west Africa the name Yoruba descendants in west Africa are called is Aku. From the word: Aku aaro, Aku osan, Aku iyaleta, some call them Edekiri or Ootu but not Yoruba. Anywhere you see Aku tribe in west Africa, they are mostly people from present day western Nigeria. You can tell the musician of this song is a Aku man…
