Old Silver Purchase and Hunt - Morgan Dollars, Barber Half Dollars and More! I grabbed a BIG SILVER bag of $220 Face Value in Constitutional or Junk Silver filled with all of his available: Morgan Dollars and Peace Dollars Barber Half Dollars, Ben Franklin Half Dollars, and Walking Liberty Half Dollars There also was an assortment of Standing Liberty Quarters, Barber Quarters and Barber Dimes which I was hoping would contain some coins I could at least add to my albums or to my coin collection. I also decided to not just look for key dates or better dates but also see if I could score any of the Top 100 Morgan VAM Varieties and any of the Top 50 Peace Dollar VAM Varieties - as well as any varieties within the other denominations. Junk Silver is defined as silver that is less pure than 92.5% - not that it is "Junk" (I know this bothers some but it's just how they classify it. Hopefully you all enjoy this video! Hey Rob, I've personally been having a lot of luck with bills lately, I've been hunting for about six month, with no finds, but in the past 4 weeks, I have found 11 star notes and a quad double $1 bill, without going through a single strap of bills, all from change or tips (I imagine less than 200 bills). If you have the time, was wondering if you could do a bill search, maybe you'll find some of the luck that I have come across.

Rob, I have a 1898 S Morgan Dollar that has a brass look to it. What stands out is that it has 3 mint errors on the front. Would it be worth having it graded?

The 1900 Morgan's are worn the most were used in gambling machines. Very popular in slot machines in Reno Nevada and Miami Beach Florida. The 1903o, 1903s and 1904o are the key dates in the 1900 coins. They minted no Morgans between 1904 and 1921 when the peace dollar first showed up. Although the Morgan 1921, 1921d and 1921s (low value) were minted.

Have you tried using different colors of light, shined on coins at different angles, to see if it can bring out worn dates? The fancy term is multispectral lighting but I bet an adjustable color RGB LED and a UV LED would do the job. This is a technique used to bring out things like hard to read signatures on art and other things that show up better under different light colors.
