I think it's really weird how a lot of people who draw on KZbin can't draw portraits of people which really shocks me since I actually can draw them in 20 mins and you can actually recognize them straight away.I sound super cocky right now but im thinking of doing more realism then manga.Is this the right thing to do? or should I continue practicing manga?

Doing realism helps you with other art styles. But do what's easier. Or do both!

It's a great idea to practice realism to get a better grip on how things work/fit together/etc. Then, if you want to you can start changing parts of it to develop a 'style'(doesn't need to stay the same forever... I used to draw squares for eyes boy that did not last). And it's not bad to know your own skill level! I consider myself to be pretty good at lineart/colour theory now- at least, I'm a hell of a lot better than I was. One day I'll think that the art I'm making now is trash. That's just life.

You are soo right about the studies! I started studying anatomy this winter, and it has improved A LOT and used to be my worst part of my artwork. Now it's the best part! I recommend Proko, I think he's a college professor and he's helped me improve my anatomy, shading and highlight, hair, hands... almost everything.

here is a really good tip that I know if you want to be a artist, once you make a mistake in your drawing, don't stop, don't grab the paper and throw it away, keep drawing, then once your done, draw what you tried to draw again, and try to not make the same mistake, try to learn from it, and then you will notice that you probably got better, and if that doesn't work then, just practice don't give up on what you are doing, everything is not always perfect, but you can always try again.
