I LOVE WHEN PEOPLE HAVE THE COURAGE TO USE THE PRODIGY IN OLD SCHOOL HARDCORE MIXES. People tend to neglect them because they were too commercial. But at the time in 1992 they WERE a pretty damn part of the rave scene! Also, nice picture :P
@richardstaff265310 жыл бұрын
I totally agree tara i was into the prodigy when liam first made his demo tape i managed to hold of a copy of the tape through a mate i dont think the prodigy were commercial i saw them in 1992 in norwich and it was mind blowing
@reocockney10 жыл бұрын
True on that! Gotta love a bit of Prodigy
@rctruckz2269 жыл бұрын
Tara Gostling prodigy back in the day were up with there with the best, i remember watching them live as part of the nights line up along side Rhythm Quest, N-Joi & N-Trance back in 91-92 ...dont blame them for going commercial, they knew the end was nigh for the rave scene so went where the money was, unfortunately, for me from then on prodigy were not the same, they went more daft punk weird stuff lol to blend in with the commercial side of things.
@edone49979 жыл бұрын
rctruckz I would say that after experience the Prodigy deliberately moved away from the mainstream rather than "going where the money was", they unwittingly played a big part in the silliness of what 'rave' became with charly and I dont think that sat particularly well. they were always one of the few (only?) hardcore acts that performed live (in the way that a traditional band does)and live shows is where theyve always excelled so I think that their progression was a natural one, particularly when you see early interviews with Liam and hear him talk about the DIY ethos of his production which is very punk, this could be applied to all of the bedroom producers obviously. Youve also got top take into account the fact that they refused to play in the uk for a long time in protest of the criminal justice bill, not that they would have gone short of money performing in europe but I think it speaks volumes about their attitude given that at the time they could have probably sold any venue in the uk out. For me too experience was the golden age but I have a lot of respect for a group of lads that kicked off in a bedroom and managed to stay relevant for years to come and I would strongly advise you to go and see them live now if you get the chance mate, they know how to throw a party and you get an awesome mix of us old fellas jumping about with the younguns, noone is facing the stage, its like a proper rave :D and that cant be all bad

Plastering the walls of my room with flyers (including the on in the pic I think). Couple more years came the fake ID and sneaking into clubs. So many people love and miss this stuff. Why should it be something of the past? Am I the only one who occasionally make new stuff in this genre? By the way: Young people don't get this music at all, and even worse, they don't get the spirit behind it. Now more than ever is the time to rebel, and what do we have? Zombies with smartphones. Zombies who for instance rather tell everybody on Faecesbook that they are having guests, than actually being with them while they are there. Zombies who can't see how messed up everything is. The system, and Big Brother truly has won. WAKE UP!!!! Start raving, start protesting, and give the finger to the System. Give them hell - They have it coming. Awesome mix mate. Massive work.
