Notes/Corrections: *5s of cavalry is probably the better go-to, where 10 is for a smother type of strategy to pin someone in place while you grind (so no lances and maybe some nurgle business). *New GHB2020 and FAQs came out - no more realm artefacts and Marauders (which I thought would get nerfed) did not, so I guess play them in every list lol

Hindsight as 20/20 here, speaking way after this video was made. Best way I've seen Archaon ran is in 1 drop battallion lists- either Pleasurebound or plaguesworn(names are off but you get it). Teleport 40 marauders ahead, take your obligatory lords, and fill out remaining slots with either smaller marauder groups or knights. Marauders hit once, again when they die, and possibly a 3rd time if you managed to get the Lord in range. After that you just clean up with archie. Deceptively strong, considering you can hit before alot of armies get their Deathball buffs in place

Love your vids as I purchased slaves to darkness just before the new start collecting and battletome dropped. I got the chieftain and war queen second hand and worried they would be utterly useless but since marauders got buffed there’s merit in taking either or both along with marauder blobs to dish out some serious damage or tarpit the enemy. Overall thrilled with how slaves were treated in the update. Thanks for the lists and insight, helps new players like me understand list building and army structure

The issue with both the chief and queen is that neither can take marks, so you're losing out on a lot of power. Marauders are strong enough that I think you still should be fine without them, but not nearly as dominant as you would be with them. Make sure to bring a sorcerer lord or two. Or three, why not? Sounds like a spicy cabalists list.

In your opinion, which chaos endless spell is a must have? My gut tells me doom sigil but they all seem pretty worth their points. With the unnecessary reduction on warriors I have the points for any of these, just not two of them.

Hey Woah, What's your thoughts on a heavy cav list of chaos knights? Thinking Slaanesh mark, and some maruader horsemen to sneak objectives with their high movement (plus the battalion for impact hits).

I like it, and the 2+ d3mws impact hits within the battalion does a lot to warm me up to msu marauder horsemen. They have ranged attacks at all, which is unique in StD, even if all their attacks are bad, but for 90pts each and drop-less in a battalion they seem usable. A heavy cav themed list is solid, but can't stand on its own like Boulderhead, IDK Eels, Brass Stampede, etc, so you'll need your disruption elements to bridge the gaps.

Yeah, khorne prince CA, debuff spells, be'lakor, stuff like that. Things that screw with what the opponent wants to do. Screens are always good too

Y'all think sorcerer lord/warsrhine are mandatory for a list like this or can knights live without rerolls, maybe using swords and just one big unit of Lance's? Ruinbringer battallion, khorne dp and belakor in despoilers seems like a nice 3 drop.

@@samuelkimbley1577 I think a chaos lord would be a good call, i don't think the shrine is needed per say, though it does do some good work. I'll play around and see what works best haha.

A lot has changed since I made this vid I'm afraid so a lot of the options and artefacts and battalion stuff is different/gone/replaced now. Although the army and units are I would say mostly in a better spot atm

Which Legion is a good fit for Chaos Chariots, and how many are needed?

Ravagers is good. 18" aura on your demonic lord on mount helps keep the chariots in range, ally in a blood stoker for plus 3 run and charge. This means your mortal wounds you do on the charge go waaayyy up. Also you can summon in bodies for objectives something you'll struggle with in late game if you go heavy on the chariots. You can sling shot the chariots across the board and run them into your opponent to pin them in their deployment zone or even surprise them buy mortal wounding off a support character.

The fact that their summon is end of movement phase instead of hero phase like many other summons is huge! Moving to some objective and just deploying a unit to guard it and score while the hero moves on in later turns is imo their most powerful benefit.

HeyWoah yep it’s great and you can tie up their shooting units or potentially kill weaker hero’s. Ten marauders charging into the gap can tie up a lot of units.

10s of knights can't all get into combat. The bases are huge. 2x5 is the way to go if you want lances. hitting on 4's with no rend and 1 damage after the charge is horrifically bad. 10s can be good as mobile anvils with ensorcelled weapons tho!

Yeah same with mournfang as they're both on the same unwieldy base size. 10s for big multi-enemy-unit charges, 5s for utility and not wasting attacks. I should've included at least one unit with ensorcelled weapons just to show diversity as it's a real option - StD likes to grind.
