(old) Sonic Zero gravity in 3 minutes (2008)

Yes, "in 4 minutes" would have been a better title, but then the post-credits sequence wouldn't work anymore. I had no idea how close I got to 4 minutes when I made this.

Sonic Zero Gravity, in terms of gameplay definitly my favorite of the Sonic Riders series, still a bit too convuluted to my taste, but the core of the racing is strong and more Arcadey. Almost feels like Sega's top Skater at times, nice.
Pointless trivia about the animation process, I was actually sick while working on this, I think I animated a huge chunk of this animation in the bathroom. Hooray for Laptops.
But yeah, the story. Looking at my old notes, it's clear my Sonic dissected kind of thinking started around this time, altough I sounded a lot more agressive and sarcastic then I do now.
Seems I considered it mostly generic but found Jet annoying.
Hah, poor 2008 Roger, you haven't seen Annoying Jet yet, that's for Sonic Free Riders.
And myeah, I suppose the story is run of the mill. Sonic Riders story was funnier and snappier.
Altough, especially looking at the current Sonic stories, I do appreciate how the story of this game did try to give the characters little moments that hint at their daily lives. It's the only time Knuckles being an official treasure hunter is brought up, and this is the only time we see the Babylon Rogues actually doing any Rogue stuff that isn't related to joining race competitions. Well, I suppose they did Something in the opening of the original Riders too, but that was vague.
And I like the idea of Eggman running an actual robot corporation. Makes me wish that was worked out more as a full plot instead of that just being a weird sidenote here. Either way, fun potential and personal details hidden within here. So yeah, run of the mill or not, going back from where Sonic is now, I have new appreciation for the details put into this storyline. And again, great gameplay, so Sonic Riders Zero gravity is alright to me.
Love the 80's/ 90's boulevard bonus tracks too as a Sega fan. Wish they would include those as bonus tracks in a Sonic Sega all stars racing game some day.

My favorite racer in Sonic Riders Zero Gravity WAS Windows Vista! Its speed and handling couldn't be beat! (actually, it was a decent OS for me to use once SP1 was delivered, but now I use 7 and 10 lol)

Did you hear? The Sonic movie is coming but I don't have good feelings about it. It's a Sony production that will be live action/CG meaning we'll get some rehash of The Smurfs or The Chipmunks. You know, Eggman teleports Sonic and friends to our world to help some loser hook up with a hot girl while making fart jokes and pop culture references.

+Roger van der Weide From what I can tell from the trailer and Wikipedia, they're all playable characters along with Toad, Nabbit, And Rouge. Lakitu, Birdo and things like Egg pawns, Koopa Troopas and Chao are NPCs.

+Katie Baily Right, but was more referring to that in most of the previous Mario and Sonic at the olympics, characters are only tied to a specific sport. Like, you can be Bowser or Shadow only in Tennis and ice skating but nothing else (Random example, I don't remember the exact matches) I think it's so they don't have to create animations for every character at very event. I think only Mario and Sonic are available for all events, the rest of the cast is shuffled randomly.
