It was actually shot on a very small set with a very clever lighting setup. They only had 25 filming days so the three rooms were all actually the same room. That's why there was the conceit of the sliding doors to allow for the transitions between one room and the next to hide from the viewer that the same space was being reused with different set dressing. The way the lighting was handled was that lamp above the table was the light source for the cutting scenes and for the other rooms it was raised out of view but still providing the light for the "other" rooms. Changes in time of day were handled by switching on and off some of the 18 ARRI Skypanel lights which lit from above and created the skylight and window effects.

Well, I can't afford to go to tailors or cutters, so I don't think I will get a complex from this movie. I did once see a movie about Sweeney Todd, a talkative barber who, while shaving his customers, would slit their throat. He then dismembered their bodies and his neighbor included them in her locally famous meat pies. I vowed never to let any barber shave me after that. Now I live in Japan and found an old fashioned barbershop that is run by an old husband and wife team. Their service is great. They cut and shampoo your hair, give you a shoulder and head massage and a shave is included in the crazy low total price of 1500 Yen, a little less than $10. I kept telling them no shave, please, and they always looked sad. Finally, one day I screwed up my courage and said, "Yes, please." They used hot towels and aftershave. They did not slit my throat. One doesn't give tips in Japan, but I insisted that they accept 2000 Yen from me becasue I felt 1500 Yen wasn't enough. I have been getting a nice close shave ever since. I hope the extra 500 Yen will give them an incentive not to slit my throat...
